Giant Reciept of DOOM!

So my printer broke...

I decide I have to buy a new one, since my English class demands it like every night. So I roll up to Office Max and purchase a 50 dollar HP printer. I go up, pay for it, and she hands me my reciept, which is like 16 inches LONG.

I was like WTF! Somehow, I had to tackle this beast so other people could check out as well. I had to fold it about 4 times before stuffing it into my wallet.

Does anyone else feel a 16 inch long receipt is ridiculous?

This is a major pet peeve of mine. When the cashier goes to hand me 47 lbs of receipt for a one or two item purchase, I usually ask if they have a forklift in the back that they could use to load that receipt in my truck.

The worst offender I've seen for this is Circuit City. Not only is the receipt insanely long, it's a good 3 or 4 times wider than normal ones. All the office supply/electronic stores seem to be really bad for this. And I don't think there's any need for all the disclaimers and terms and crap, considering Wal-Mart sells many of the same things plus all kinds of other products, and has normally sized receipts.

Given how many receipts those places must print every day across the country, I'd love to know how much extra they needlessly spend on paper. I'm surprised some beancounter hasn't caught on to this and trimmed them down a bit by now.

Insane

I bought a new HD reciever from Circuit City not only was it two 17" receipts it's on termal paper so you have to make a copy of it should you need it for warranty repairs because it'll fade to nothing in 6 months. Doesn't exactly fit all nice and perfect in my manlia purchases folder LOL

this is the single sole reason I will not shop at Circuit City I cannot stand the receipt. Damn shame they moved the Best Buy that was 5 minutes away from me and doing wll I might add, to another suburb that is considered a "richer upsacle area" now 20 minutes away I refuse to shop their now too.

could it be that the receipt includes a mail in rebate form, i know future shop does that alot, plus they also include the warranty details for what exactly is covered for repairs, personally i appreciate it.

It's probably a rebate receipt/form. I work at an office supply store and that's usually why the receipts are so long.

I just bought a house. So naturally, I've been spending some time at home depot. They've been giving out recepits that are a mile long! Something about take a survey online and win a $5,000 shopping spree in their store. I did the survey, but I'm not expecting too much.
