Another reason internet companys suck

I just moved into a new place, and since my roomate and i have cell phones there is no reason to get a phone line. Well, to have dsl in pa. where i live you have to have a hard wire. I looked into cable internet butttt they only have 1 way service. So in order for me to get dsl i have to purchase dsl and a phone line that will cost 60 bucks a month. where i live they do not support "naked dsl"

naked dsl is when you can get dsl and not have to pay the phone company.

Well for Comcrap cable internet it's 60 bucks too. They make you get basic cable if you want a 2 dollar discount. The consumer never wins when it comes to broadband.

After many calls to tech support here in Alaska I was told "What do you expect, this IS Alaska"

I told her that is I was going to PAY for cable speeds, that I should GET cable speeds. Would she work for 8 hours and accept 6 hours pay? I then spoke with her superior. He got them to fix the problem, free double speed for 2 months, new upgraded cable box and modem. Thank you very much.

I live in the country and the only high speed internet available here is via satellite at about $100 per mo. for the first year and $60 after. I wish I could get DSL or cable here. Over Christmas the snow and rain covered the unaccessable dish and I was without connection for about 5 days. What we won't do for a high speed connection.
Also cell phone signals don't reach very far out here.

Overall, I'd say it's good to have a hard line, anyway. Don't bother with long distance, just get a local line. Sometimes you need a land line for some services (for example, if you have a cell phone problem. They require you to use a land line in order to fix your phone). For what it costs, DSL is probably the best bet, anyway. $60 a month isn't too bad - and remember, Verizon owns the world =)

...Damn those colleges for spoiling us with high-speed internet...I knew people who refused to graduate because they liked the connection so well :)
