Need to know the danger that carrots can cause to humans.

Hello. I have a strange request. I need to know the dangers of what carrots can do to humans. I know some can be toxic and have diseases but I need to know syptoms and ANY kind of dangers big or small that ANY kind of carrot can have on a human being.

Plz don't ask why. Trust me, you don't want to know.

Well I wouldn't want to jab one in my eye, and they are a choking hazard.

According to my mom, I ate so many carrots I turned orange when I was 2 or 3 years old. She took me to the doctor because she was worried it was jaundice. Totally harmless, but a symptom of eating too many carrots nonetheless. That's the only side effect that I'm aware of.

If you are EATING them, maybe a food allergy? If you are using them for OTHER things maybe you need to consult a DR if you are having ANY symptoms.

I have never seen a toxic carrot.

I eat alot of carrots, and have never gotten ill as a result. However, i have heard that carrots, more than other vegetables, hold the pestecides etc that they are grown in, so can be a bit toxic. That is one of the reasons that they advise toddlers who are teething to suck on organic carrots. Other than that mate, i dont know.

Excessive consumption of carotene-rich foods may lead to a condition called caratoderma in which the palms or other skin develops a yellow or orange cast. This yellowing of the skin is presumably related to carotenemia, excessive levels of carotene in the blood. The health impact of carotenemia is not well researched. Eating or juicing high amounts of foods rich in carotene, like carrots, may over tax the body’s ability to convert these foods to vitamin A. The body slowly converts carotene to vitamin A, and extra carotene is stored, usually in the palms, soles or behind the ears. If the cause of the carotenemia is eating excessively high amounts of foods like carrots, the condition will usually disappear after reducing consumption.

Virtually all municipal drinking water in the United States contains pesticide residues, and with the exception of organic foods, so do the majority of foods in the U.S. food supply. Even though pesticides are present in food at very small trace levels, their negative impact on health is well documented. The liver’s ability to process other toxins, the cells’ ability to produce energy, and the nerves’ ability to send messages can all be compromised by pesticide exposure. Individuals wanting to avoid these health risks may want to avoid consumption of carrots unless grown organically, since carrots are among the 20 foods on which pesticide residues have been most frequently found.

I know you can get to much vitamin A (it becomes toxic) but I hardly think you could ever get too much from eating carrots. We sure need to know more to help you....and mainly because we are all nosey bastards who just want to know!!

yep, definitely think they're on to something:

From http://mdn.mainichi.co.jp/waiwai/030...turbation.html

"When my husband's not at home during the day, I tried it with an eggplant and a carrot. Cover them with lotion and they pop right in," housewife Kyoko Shimada tells Shukan Jitsuwa. "It gave me an exquisite pleasure I'd never felt before."
