Eczema ? on the eyebrows ? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Happened a year ago and my eyebrows won't stop itching.

Skin flakes and severe itching has made me conclude that it IS eczema.

Now .. it's on the eyebrows, right above the eye. Putting antibiotics/lotion on it may.. cause it to drip into the eye when I sweat. Are there any solutions to this? I need to stop scratching my eyebrow and not severe my eyeballs :P

First thing’s first, see your doctor. If it is indeed eczema, he or she will most probably prescribe a mild steroid based topical ointment which you’ll need to put on sparingly once or twice as day. As you’ll be using minimal amount of the ointment and it will be absorbed straight into the skin, there’s no real chance that it’ll get into your eyes. So don’t stress about that.

Also, you’ve really got to work on not scratching. I know from experience that it’s insanely difficult but it helps with recovery. There are a few things you can try to help with this. Whenever you feel it being itchy, place pressure with your finger tips on the area and count to thirty. Then, put pressure on some other part of your body in the same manner, your arm for example. This acts as a simple little distracter. Also, one other tip; keep your fingernails as short as possible.

There is a newer prescription medication out now called Elidel. My 9 month old son has mild eczema on his face and the cream works in 1-2 days. Talk to your doctor and get the cream. It is worth it.

If it is eczema, I would highly recommend Protopic as an alternative to the steroid based options. I've had eczema most of my life and have tried alot of the various creams and this works like a treat. It does however take a couple of days to get working and is not very good at aleviating the itchyness but for what it does it is a small downside. It is also totally safe to use on the face / eyelids etc.

I have a simalar condition, here is what I have noticed. Elidel kindof worked but at the same time it caused burning (i hear they are working on a pill for of elidel). My medicine of choice is Lociod Lipocream. Of course I try to rarely use this (only when it gets bad). I have noticed there are lots of factors that cause breakouts but I have yet to narrow down on exactly what causes them. Since I have moved my breakouts have gone down signifgantly. I'm thinking there are a lot of enviornmental things that cause breakouts. Try keeping a journal and look for things that cause breakouts then avoid them. Do not itch them no matter how bad they feel, my problem is i itch while i sleep, if you have this problem try getting some sort of a mask or something to stop it. Also if you find anything out let me know, no one seems to know what causes breakouts but alergies and stress seem to be big parts.

It just hit back again today, and I'm scratching it waaaaaaaaay too much. Have to have to stop!
