Trying to find the absolute dirt cheapest way to get from Jackson or Grand Rapids Michigan to Denver Colorado. I have looked at amtrack - any suggestions?

Look at ATA. They used to have dirt cheap fares from Chicago to Denver. I haven't had to travel that route in a while, so I don't know how things are now, though.
