Yellow Lance Armstrong bands??
Can anyone tell me where I can find these yellow live strong armbands? I see people at the gym that have them but no one can tell me how to get one. The local bike shop is out of them. :confused:

AFAIK they're pretty much gone, and were gone about 2 nanoseconds after they became available. Not sure where you live, but if winter hasn't struck and they're still holding bike races, you might have luck there, but otherwise. . .

You can buy a 10-pack for $10 at http://www.laf-store.org/, the official lance armstrong foundation site. There pretty much a dollar each. 100 for $100 or 1200 for $1200.

If you have any trouble finding them, I have a small stockpile of them here. I have used them as gifts and sold them at cost to many people. I bought them 15 and 20 at a time when I found them.
If you still can't find any, PM me and I'd be happy to send you a few. At the moment I can only afford to send about 4 more out, because I'd like to keep 4 or 5 for myself... My wife and I wear them every day and I have a nasty habit of breaking them at work and otherwise. |
I bought 20 from his website and just gave them to people at my dorm at cost ($1)

Oh, so that's what those are. I've seen a couple of people wearing them recently, but I didn't feel like asking them, 'cause I figured I'd get a religious lecture of some sort if I brought up the subject. I thought it was a WWJD kind of thing.

i think they are great. the money goes where it should go, to research and no where else.
however, has anybody seen the irony in people who live horribly healthy lifestyles who still wear them? it just seems like an oxymoron to see someone chain smoking with one on. but thats just me, and i guess i get a giggle out of it so its alright. |
I have a problem with these yellow bands.. Initally the idea was great. When you get them directly from the charity. However. 7-11, the car wash, and other places started mass producting these bands on their own, charging more money, and the money doesent go to charity. Then they came out with "support our troops" and many others.. But The money doesent go where it should. So..while the show of support is great..the money you are spending isnt going to research unless you get it directly from the source..

I was @ foot locker (atlethic shoe store) a while ago before I heard about these, and and they had these "baller I.D. tags" what are they about?
Are these ripoffs of the same thing? Then I was talking to my friend and she saw this guy wearing a lance bracelet, she said she just heard about them and thought they were great. I just saw ft locker so I told her they're just tags for athlets, not neccessarily lance. Now I find out im wrong. It wasnt an argument, neither of us knew much about them, but it goes to show not to even question what a girl says :D |
I have a package of em, maybe 6 left? I should just take them to class and see who wants them. There actually aren't that many people on campus with them on (Oregon State).
But then, there was a girl kidnapped here a while ago, and they started selling pink bracelets to raise money to keep the search going. I see those around sometimes. The Lance ones were in Oprah, so I'm sure that's helped their popularity. that's why i got them. :p |
I have a bunch of these bracelets.. breast cancer, aids, lance armstrong.. all for the same reason... to give money to the cause. I worked for an oncology group and cancer research is a big factor in my life. With any bracelet you buy make sure its an established organization where you know it will go to the right hands.
Ive seen the LiveStrong bracelets in Nike stores and Nike Outlets since they are the ones who make them for the LAF. Also check bike shops and athletic stores. If not, order them online. Giving them away shouldnt be hard, and if nothing else you have made a good donation. |
i have to say that i don't get the point of these bands. it's good that all the proceeds go to charity, but it's only a dollar, and if i'm going to donate a dollar to charity i'd rather have it ALL go to charitable acts-- when you buy the band, you've got to factor in the cost of making, distributing, packaging and selling them.
i've asked people who wear them why they do. some say they have personal meaning, like for example i know a girl who wears one because her father is struggling with cancer. that makes sense to me. but other people don't have an answer, or say that they are wearing them to raise awareness. who isn't aware of cancer? i understand why the lance armstrong foundation is making them-- they have brought in an enormous amount of money that goes to cancer research. i just don't understand why people are so much more willing to give a dollar to save peoples' lives if they get a yellow rubber bracelet out of the deal. (i hope i haven't offended anyone here. i'm not trying to attack anyone, i'm just trying to figure out the appeal.) |
ideally, and i really mean ideally, i would love to see a personal pledge behind these bands. something other than money. i wear mine cuz i try to make an effort to live a healthy life to perhaps deter the inevitable cancer diagnosis much of my family has.
anyone else maintain that mentality? |
Is this the second coming of slap and friendship bracelets? Most of the people that I know who wear them could care less about the charity. I say if you want to wear a cool bracelet just buy some different colored rubber bands and sport those.

This has turned into a huge fashion fad. People are starting to color coordinate this stuff now. I see a guy wear yellow clothes with a Livestrong band one day and the next he is wearing a baller band with black clothes. I figure this stuff will go out of style when everyone starts doing it. I am not seeing very many wrists that are not sporting some kind of band, so it will drop off pretty quickly I think.

I did finally find some. I bought 4. My wife and I wear ours and I gave the others away. I just came back from vacation to Texas and my nephew had some of the armbands that were all different colors. I asked him what they were and he said that stood for the astrologistical signs. Everyone's out there to make money so I understand why there are so many.
