will be in london 17-22 november
and wanted to ask two questions:
1. anyone know of a flat that we might rent for that time? there weill be 3 of us, and two will probably stay on another 4-5 days after i leave.... 2. i am interested in lining up a performance or two while we are there, but i need to know recommendations about venues that book experimental music (electro-acoustic) that migth have a piano in good shape. any suggestions? thanks in advance

You want to get yourself on stage? Hmmm. You'll have to do a search for some open-mike nights or jam sessions on the web.
do a google.co.uk and hit the UK only radio button. As for the other stuff, what do you like to do/see? Modern, old, exhibitions, music, art, landscape, architecture, food, etc. |

not right away--i was more interested in checking out venues for some gigs over the summer. if you are curious, teh kind of stuff i do can be located here:
www.clairaudient.org we are lining up some shows in belgium for june and wanted to put together some other performances. i am going to check out the horse hospital on saturday night, i think, for example. as for the question: i prefer contemporary stuff--last time in london i really enjoyed an art&language show at whitechapel...stuff on that order would be swell. we are also on a sound safari---curious ambient sound/space in which they deploy (soundmarkers)--we'll be wandering around the city with recording devices. not the whole time, of course. but some. thanks for the help so far.

Head to the markets, particularly London Borough market at London bridge station.
A reall good mix of sounds there with all the foreign and local stalls. For might time, check out Leicester square, you'll get a lot of the typical tourist trap atmosphere with some of the hippy spontaneous drummers after club closing. Some jamaican bands. http://www.timeout.com/london/thisweek.php http://www.talentcircle.co.uk/noticeboard.asp http://www.visitlondon.com/whats_on/browse/spec http://www.barbican.org.uk/bite/ |
