What about the San Juan Islands or Port Townsend or Olympic National Park? Or B.C's Gulf Islands, or Victoria, B.C.? Or Long Beach/Tofino, or Harrison Hot Springs (near Chilliwack, B.C.) I can highly recommend any or all of these places, it just depends on what you're looking for/ what you want to do. I'm from Canada and don't get south of the line too often, so I'm a little more knowledgable about B.C. destinations.

First off, what part of the PacNW do you live in? Lemme know...I've got some good recommendations. :)
My favorite weekend away? The San Juans! But at this time of year a great destination is Seattle--they have super-saver rates in all the hotels right now. You can stay in a super-nice hotel for a lot less money. Check the travel section of the Sunday paper. Another great destination is the Oregon coast, even in winter. Hotels there are also cheaper in winter. Port Townsend is indeed a great recommendation. It's a great jumping-off point for exploration of the Olympic Penninsula too. |
Port Townsend was pretty awesome, but that paper mill! Paulsbo was pretty nice place to see, especially since I'm norwegian. It's all good up there, and so close you can drive around and see what you want.

Poulsbo is less than 40 minutes from where my parents live. It's cool but not that cool. Port Townsend is way cooler.

Don't rule out Eastern Washington. There are many out of the way spots that have lots of charm and more to do than you would think. If I knew better what you were looking for, I could make some specific recomendations.

AM LOOKING FOR OUT OF THE WAY,UNSUAL,SMALL,PRIVATE,COOL,ROMANTIC PLACES
.......BEEN TO MOST OF THE REGULAR STUFF IN WASH/ORE/BC....MAY BE I SHOULD TELL YOU GUYS THE GOOD SPOTS..??? XOXOXOO |
Well, at the risk of naming many of the obvious... have you been to the Wikkaninnish, the Aerie, the Sooke Harbour House? Fancy romantic type places on Vancouver Island. Tho not totally private.
For private, grab a tent and hoof to the top of the Joffree Lakes trail. The Sunshine Coast is rather quiet at this time of year. Lots of B&Bs. We're also big fans of Manzanita, Oregon. |
