small business grants

Does anybody know anything about how to get a grant for a small business? I'm a white male in my mid twenties and I can't find any info.

US or Canada? (if it's Canadian - I'd be interested as well)

Info? You're screwed.

Try getting a silent partner that's in your immediate family, that is preferably handicapped/female/minority. Then try for a SBA loan.

Grants are extremely difficult to get after 9/11 when they were reduced dramatically, and you also are competing with quite a few professional grant writers.

We're in the US. Thanks for the help. There's four of us total wanting to open a gaming store. We are not actually looking for a profit we just want to be able to pay the bills. It's more of a hobby that doesn't cost anything (as long as we break even).

Going in with no idea and trying to "break even" is a good way to lose your ass. Unless you've got money to spare, it might not be the best of ideas. Would be cool to do, though. Good luck.

I've tried to get a grant for my Lego business, but it is near impossible. Even with a large stock, business plan and verified sales. I gave up because my time and energy was better used working on the business and working a my regular job to increase the size of my stock. I set up a business account and I haven't touched my work income to grow my business in at least 6 months.

As in toy legos? Man, I love those things.
