Quickbooks should work fine for you. Other products are similar, but QB is by far the most popular program.
And pmkuon, I'm sure I speak for most of the board that posts here that we don't mind answering a few of your questions, but you might want to consider biting the bullet and spend the few hundred bucks to sit with a CPA for a couple hours and bounce your questions off them, since you seem to have quite a few of them. Remember, you get what you pay for, and our advice is free!

I think a lot of it depends on what kind of business you are starting.
I started a web design company 3 years ago and all I have had to use is Quickbooks. However, I have experience in other software, like Peachtree, which can be more powerful than QuickBooks. So, if you are just paying vendors, accepting money (invoices etc) then QuickBooks is great. Mike
