Pain caused by alcohol

ok so I'm curious as hell if anyone else has the same problem like I do.

I began drinking when I was 14 and I soon discovered that I got a pain in my legs, arms and stomach after consuming alcohol. Just half a beer was enough to produce this pain. First I thought nothing of it. I assumed that I had been eating something that didn't agree with me. But at the next party I experienced the same pain. I naturally started to worry and I soon after went to see a doctor. Luckily it was nothing serious. Apparently my veins increase so much when I'm drinking that they touch my nerves, irritating them and thereby cause a pain.

I still get a pain when I drink and it's particularly bad when I drink beer. Luckily it only lasts for like 10 minutes tops but it's still annoying of course.

So. Am I the only one who's suffering from this?

I don't get the same kind of pain but certain alcohol does something similar for me.

Rum of any sort in any mix tends to give me an instant headache. Just half a glass of rum and coke is all it takes ever. I am prone to migranes and they are related to my low blood pressure. My head responds to the lack of circulation when my blood pressure drops by giving me a headache which eventually turns into a migrane if I don't stop it pretty quickly. I think this is probably related to the same reason that alcohol gives me a headache. Alcohol does lower my blood pressure. I don't get the pain in my legs though.

My blood pressure frequently runs low and drinking simply makes me tired, sleepy, and out of it. When I go out and want to have fun I get me an energy drink with tons of sugar and caffene. Can't be any worse than alcohol and it makes me wired. When I get wired I like to take risks and have fun. It's just a different kind of high I guess. Whatever floats your boat, right?

weird!

So.... does any of your family members have the same problem? You'd think that at least some of mine were dealing with the same pain when consuming alcohol but that doesn't seem to be the case

I wouldn't know if any of my family has that effect really. My brother is a pretty heavy drinker and has no trouble with it. My parents though refuse to even use cooking alcohol (alcohol is sinful supposedly) so I have no idea if it affects them this way. My maternal side has always had HIGH blood pressure problems so I know that my vascular system does not take after that side. My Dad tends to have low blood pressure but I don't know if alcohol bothers him at all.

I know it's not my imagination because I complained of the headaches around some friends who enjoyed rum and coke and shared with us on more than one occaision. They were the ones who mentioned "Didn't you get a headache like that the last time you had some Rum?" They came to the conclusion first.

I bet it's more annoying than anything. I guess just drink a large amount up front and the pain will not happen, right?

If I only drink one or two drinks, I tend to get really bad headaches, so I either don't drink, or make sure I drink more.

You get so drunk that you nearly kill yourself. Drink something with a high alcoholic content very quickly in high volume before it can take effect. Then when it hits ya it's all at once and your toast. At least that's how I understand it. I've never experienced it personally and do not intend to ever.

I had a touch of alcohol poisoning in New Orleans. Too many hurricanes at Pat O'Briens. Oh the fun time we had, that I remember from the rest of the trip...

I knew a guy in college who was alergic to alcohol. His face would get beet red and very puffy. Looked like he was crying because his puppy got ran over.

I don't understand why people would continue to drink if the had bad side effects like this. If you know alcohol is causing the problem, and it can't be fixed, why continue to drink?

every asian person ive drank with has the "glow" their face turns red when they drink...

a guy i know went to a party... and woke up 3 days later... he had been in a coma all that time... it was when he was 16... after that he didnt have another drink untill he was 21.... didnt give him any problems...

and another guy i know was really sick the next day... and the day after that... and he cant even smell alcohol without getting a headache...

so it varies from person to person how poisioning effects your ability to drink later on...

i prefer to not drink till im drunk... dont have to worry about stuff like that then..

Or you can drink a bunch over a couple of hours while on another illegal substance(lsd) that won't let you pass out until you've nearly drunk yourself to death. In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is a story about me. I drank over twenty beers in 2 and a half hours, when the other party goers(small party) noticed how much I had drunk they gave me a bottle of cherry brandy to chug to try and make me throw up, I downed about four good gulps and kept everything down, I passed out about half an hour later and pissed all over myself.

That is how you get alcohol poisoning, This all happened from about 12 am-2:30 am, I was still drunk at 6pm the next day. I think I had actually consumed enough alcohol that I was either drunk throughout the "poisoning" and therefore did not really feel any of the effects or the poisoning took the form of being drunk, plus I'm one of the lucky few that does not get hangovers so that probably helped.

The lesson, do not over drink or drink while on other substances.

The symptom that you refer Asians as having is due to genetics. They do not metabolize alcohol as well as "Caucasians" due to genetic differences.

The only pains I get from alcohol are headaches...

And UDI's of course.

I have no idea what so ever! In my case I continue to drink because I genuilly love the taste of beer and because the pain only lasts about 10 minutes and because I know it's perfectly harmless
