Emergency roommate search in the Twin Cities, MN
So, I've been left in a lurch by a rapidly vacating roommate, and now I need to replace her with someone ASAP, preferably someone I can trust not to do this in the future. I've got flyers all around at local businesses, a Roommates.com account (they even extorted the cash out for a subscription from me), an ad on Craiglist, and listings at several area colleges and schools. I've looked into maybe getting a newspaper ad, but those things seem sketchy as hell to me. Has anyone here been in a similiar situation? What do you guys suggest I do?

Sounds like you're doing all you can to find a new roommate.
Talk to your landlord? Explain your situation... That you are trying to find a new roommate - but it might take a little bit of time. (especially if you can't swing the rent on your own) A credit check on a new potential roommate couldn't hurt, or at least a reference or two. |
Well, the landlord isn't at all concerned about renting this place out, it's cheap and in a great location. He's going to be cool at least during this coming month, at least, but he's still going to want the full rent from me in a relatively timely manner. He's going to push back the due date for about a week, I think I might be able to get at least one of the three open rooms filled by then, or at least empty my bank account for a week or so until I can get someone in here.
