Stretch Marks
Alright, I'm a guy, and I've been overweight since like... 7th grade(Senior in high school now). I've developed quite a few stretch marks on my stomach and sides, and theyre really embarassing. Some are reddish and others are just like... a lighter color than the skin. Is there any kind of cream or treatment that will make them go away, or am I stuck with them? I've been losing weight for a while now, and even though I've lost weight, I'm still pretty self conscious and the stretch marks don't help at all. I don't let anyone see me with my shirt off, and it can really be awkward sometimes. Any advice?

get some mederma from your chemist.
|
really? thats works?
|
Rub citamin E oil on them for now, then get cream. The one that works best is 12% lactic acid with an ammonium hydroxide neutralizer. It's now non-prescription and costs between $10 and $15 per tube. A tube will last for a few weeks.

Bing bing and MrSelfDestruct....have you or your friends tried these and seen real results? I have a few stretch marks I wouldn't mind getting rid of but I always just assume I'm stuck with them. I don't want to waste money on something that won't make a difference...

I got rid of my stretch marks and even my 19 year old circumcision scar with mederma so it worked for me. :) |
bing bing, how much did you rub it in to get rid of a circumsion scar?
|
Mederma worked for me, but dont expect results immediately it takes almost a month for anything to really start happening and mederma is as expensive as all hell
|
Mederma isn't all that effective. It will shrink the marks a little and nothing else. LIke Rudel73 said it is very expensive. I tried pretty much everything. I did notice that with the moderma and having a good tan will some what hide them but not get rid of them.
Good luck!! |
I was always under the impression that the best you could do is make the stretchmarks fade and be less visible, but not actually get rid of them completely. But if there is a reasonable way possible to get rid of them outside of cosmetic surgery, I'd definitely like to know as well.

I got some stretchmarks on my belly and chest when I gained a LOT of weight when I was 15 and I broke my hip (I went from 180 lbs to like 280 in half a year or something) I'm still pretty fat, but my weight has been more constant since at least, they have faded over time, but I still have them and they do make me really self conscious too. I wish I also knew how to get rid of them!

I just followed directions (twice a day) and it was almost completely gone by 3 months. It's not that expensive over here.

I had stretch marks on my lower back for most of high school. I think they were caused by growth spurts or something, not sure. I never used anything on them, and they've faded to almost nothing. And these were really deep stretch marks. If you lose some weight and keep it off, they should go away after a year or so.

Stretch marks are not solely a result of fat gain are they?
It's just mass gain in general; so it could also be a sudden increase in muscle mass? I saw Keyshawn Johnson doing an interview on ESPN the other week and he had stretch marks on his upper arms, and I think I've read of people having stretch marks as a result of growth spurts, or even rapid muscle gain, and was curious if that is in fact true? |
I don't know so much about long-term stretch marks, but when I go on my workout spurts (I can't seem to keep it consistent...), at first, or when I go up a notch, I'll get some stretch marks on my upper arms/shoulder/pectoral areas but they go away shortly thereafter.
|
I've got them from just growing so vast vertically. Really bad on my back, sometimes people think I'm all scratched up. I've also got a few on my hips, but I dont mind them, theyre light.
I'd really like to know how to get rid of my back ones though. |
Mederma in a 50g tube is $29.99 at Longs drug store. I'm going to go out and try some, but I won't expect to see any difference for a few months. It has a money back gurarntee, but those don't always pan out.
|
I've been working out the past month, and I've noticed I have some red dots/lines on my shoulders. are those stretch marks, or developing stretch marks or something? I'll have to check again when I wake up to see if they are still there, but I sure hope it's not...but if they are, has anyone had any luck with vitamin e and zinc to make strech marks go away?
|
Yeah Grondar, I am lucky enough to have all kinds of stretchmarks. It is possible to get them from gaining muscle fast because I did- I have bright red ones still in my armpits/near my chest and arms. I also have a strange one in the middle of my back that is pretty hidden by now, but it is just 1 jagged horizontal one right on my spine. Also, I have tons of old marks from when I was fat in high school all over my thighs and butt. The most noticeable of mine are on my hips. I had love handles bad, and even now that they are mostly gone, I still see big wide red stretch marks there.
Shitty genetics  I think I'm going to look into this Mederma stuff.. |
I bet you hate them but any lady that likes you will not mind them at all. Of course we all would like to look a bit better.
|
u get them from loosing and gaining weight as well as working out they usually go away eventually on there own though dont they?
|
They fade to a color a little lighter than surrounding skin, and have a different texture, but I dont think they ever completely go away on their own.
