Hot oil burn -- reduce scar tissue
Today at my job at Wendy's (a fast food place if you don't have them near you) I was dumping a basket of fries (or chips ) when the basket kinda tapped me on the arm. I got a nice little burn there. Maybe 2 hours later on my break, I put some ice on it.
Is there anything I can do now to reduce scar tissue? If not, it's no biggie. It's a small scar, plus it kinda looks like a headless hawk or falcon. Keep in mind I probably won't check back for another 7 hours, bringing the time from the burn to around 12 hours. So.. yeah. /rambling post |

If it's just a minor First degree burn. There's not much you can do 12 hours after the burn. Just avoid poppng any blisters you may have.
After it heals you can get a Scar healing pad. You should be able to find in near the band-aids in your local pharmacy. That may help remove some of the scar. If it happens in the future run the burn immeditly under cold water for 5 minutes or so. |

most of my scars fade after a while anyway. my advice is to make up a cool story of how you got it and also don't worry - anyone who gets through life without a few scars must have been living in cotton wool

If the scar had been more like a line, I could have passed it off as being from a dangerous knife fight. Now it's... the remnant of a crocodile bite?
I put some hydrocortizone w/aloe on it last night, and it seems to have faded a bit. |

Quite faded by now, but the skin ripped right over it (must have been a small blister). I guess a couple of days from now it'll be almost gone. I know I have vitamin E, but not whether it's capsules or not. If it's not, I guess I could mash up a pill in some water to make a paste. Couldn't hurt.
Thanks. |

Try using some cocoa butter lotion, works pretty good on burns.

I usually alternate between AloeVera and Lanolin. Lanolin can be one of the most healing ointments. Sometimes you have to ask at the pharmacy counter for straight Anhydrous or Hydrous Lanolin. It lasts a long time, doesn't soak in or drip off very quickly and provides a somewhat water resistant seal and keeps the wound moist. I love the stuff. I've used it on my C-section scar and I can barely see the line, unless I'm looking specifically for it, 4 years after it's creation.
