H.S. Reunion - Talk about what?

Next week I am going home for my 20th...holy shit...high school reunion. I am kind of excited about it actually. I only kept in touch with a few people over the years and the rest will be basic strangers again for the most part. Including SO's there will be about 120 people there.

My question is... what did you talk about all the time??

Do I just say...Hi there, nice to see you again...what do you do for a living now? Listen for a while and move on to the next?

Kind of reminds me of my university days and asking...What's your major?...

I am just looking for some interesting conversation starters that don't seen recycled and that everyone else will be asking.

Thanks in advance.

Some of it was what are you doing now to what happened to you after I last saw you at the frat party and that was the last time I saw you...

I think it's like when you see any old friends... you try to catch up.

but if you are talking about people you don't know but were just in your class??? it's going to be as awkward as walking up to a girl with some corny line....

I am probably the shyest person in the world and not great at talking to people. My 20th was in '82, and I forced myself into going, my 10th I could not have bothered with, there was just not enough distance between high school and the real world.

After 20 years being free from high school, peer pressure is gone.

I went.

it was a weekened event.

I had a great time. I talked with people I would never have talked to in high school. All the cliques were gone, and it was just a bunch of adults out for the evening.

I graduated with almost 600 people, I didn't know everyone in high school. about 450 people came to the reunion. I surely didn't talk to all of them.

If you still have your yearbook, bring it, and see how much people have changed. It will be a lot of reminiscing, and rehashing of good times.

you probably see that everyone has expanded physically and with there family. most of them will want to talk about there kids and there jobs and there wives or husbands. so just oh really oh thats nice.....and get as drunk as possible. they don't really care about you, just there lives. Make up some stories about your life.
and before you go...watch the movie...Grosse Point Blank with john cuscack (sp?).....it will give you better ideas.

good luck.

My 10-year was last weekend? (I only know that from what I read in my hometown paper) The reason why I say that is because I never got any notification on when or where it was. What really confuses the hell out of me is that the girl who is supposed to be organizing it sent a mass email wanting everybody's address so she could keep us updated by mail. So the supposed date arrives, and nothing ever received in the mail. I send an email to another classmate wondering if she ever got any reunion info either. Turns out, nada. Way I figure it, that girl is either still living in high school in her mind and she's being a cliquey bitch or she has the worst organization skills on the planet.

Anyway, I didn’t go and I wasn't about to hunt people down begging for info so I could go.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I will be home at my parents place the day before and will try to dig up that old yearbook so I can at least get some names down pat.

Should be fun. It will be a drink fest on Friday night at the local bar and they rented the golf course all day Saturday. Great.

Anywho...I am going with an open mind and see how everybody's doin'.

Thanks again. Cheers.

I would just talk to them about everything that has changed. What you do, what your hobbies are...reunions are great because it's like meeting a whole bunch of people, I'd imagine.
