Chest/Pecks
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone knew some good excercises to really burn fat in the chest area. I have some small man teets and I'm looking to get rid of those mofos. Anyone know some good machines or anything I can use? I have access to a full array of gym machines. Thanks! |
Firstly, it's spelled pec(torical)s, people will bitch you around if you spell it with the K.
Secondly, there is no such thing as a spot fat reduction exercise, if there was, everyone would be a lot fitter than they are. The best excerices you can do for chest development are dumbell flys and the bench press, as they work the largest areas of muscle, which will reduce the appearance of bitch tits. But, any exerices are better than none, so just go for it really. |
just a few i can remember real quick:
bench press incline bench press decline bench press dumbell press butterfly machine |
Yeah, you can't reduce the fat in any specific place. If you were hoping to reduce them by summer time..well, that idea is pretty much shot(sorry). Build up some muscle, then clean up your diet and reduce your body fat. That's the only way you're going to lose them.
|
That's what I figured, lol. I can always hope for some crazy exercise that I didn't know about yet.
And stevie667, you're right. That was a typo on my part. Sometimes my brain just doesn't accept abbreviations, heh. |
mother in law doesn't spell woman hitler rearranged..
there's no H, or N in mother in law |
Most likely you have gyno, and if it is to far advanced that fatty tissue will not go no matter what yo do.
If you wont it removed you man need surgery... go see your doctor. |

Run, swim or walk. All good for fat. What's gyno? And is it really that hard to get rid of fat? Man, that's depressing. What if you catch it early (ish)? |

It's pectorals, or pectoralis (as in pectoralis major or minor) To reduce the fat in that area, weight train a few times a week, do cardio a few times a week, and eat less calories than you are putting out in effort. Should take about 6 months to a year of that. |
Who cares hows it spelt, the man asked a question not a english lesson.... i dont know were you guys are reading this stuff about loosing fat on ur pecs but its all bs..
Fatty tissue in the pecs are in the gland and you cannot loose that tissue, gyno is basically bitch tits... the only real way to have it removed is surgery. Bodybuilders usually develop them at some stage due to the use of steroids but it can also be a genetic thing happen to normal people. My right pec is a little swollen from the use of steroids and i can assure you that no matter how much i diet or train its not going anywhere... well until i have surgery that is. |

As for Gyno, it's usually created when the body produces too much oestrogen (say from use of artificial testosterone, or genetic factors e.t.c), and creates further tissues in the breasts. Now, gyno in itself isn't something to be worried about, your unlikely to get it. If you do happen to get it, unless you catch it early and treat it with something like nolvo (if your taking pro-hormones or steriods), then surgery really is the only option. Body fat, however, can be worked off in cardio, and with chest exercises building up the muscles, you will notice the difference in how damned good it looks. |

I doubt you have gyno if you have a big belly. Its probably just fat. You can lose that through diet+ excersize.
|
Okay, so I'm trying to understand this whole fat in the chest thing (you guys are freaking me out!)...
Are you saying that ANY fat found in the chest area is gyno, or it could be just fat (like jizzmasterp just said)?? I don't have a REALLY big belly, but I have one. I started working out for the first time about a month ago so I pretty much have no muscle build yet. I have a little fat in the breasts, but could it be gyno? I've never taken steroids or anything like that. Is the only way to really know to go to a doctor and find out? |
I guess I'm answering my own question. Here's an article from WebMD:

Gyno will be located more around the nipple region, rather than over the whole chest area. |
Dumbell flys and inclined bench are the best chest shaping exercises you can do. Also to try and lose fat focusing on your chest, try doing burnout exercises...do low weight (like the 45lb bar only) with as many reps as possible...do it until you cannot lift the bar anymore.
|
build up the muscle underneath the fat and then the man boobs wont stand out so much.
My favorite chest workout: 3 sets, 15 reps flat dumbell bench 3 sets, 15 reps incline dumbell bench 3 sets, 15 reps flat dumbell fly 3 sets, 15 reps cable cross-overs My pecs are sore just thinkin about it... diet and cardio is never a bad thing either |
spot reduction just doesnt happen. also ignore these so called toning or shaping exercises. you only need 3 exercise to have killer pecs. Flat bench (mid), Incline bench (upper), Parallel dips weighted (lower).

what exercise works the inside of the pecs?
is the dumbell fly the exercise where you're on your back and you spread your arms out with weights in hand and you bring your hands together as if you are going to clap? i think the dumbell fly works the inside of the pecs? |
There is no inside vs outside of the pec. Muscle fibers run the length of the muscle from the origin to the insertion. For the pec, this means from the upper arm to the breastbone. Therefore, you cannot contract one part more than the other. What you feel is the exteme range of motion that flyes bring into the movement. Your elbows travel further in a flye or pec deck than in a barbell bench press. However, this extreme stretch that many people look for is not good for you. your shoulder has a tremendous range of motion, but it sacrifices stability for it. If you push to the edge of flexibility, you sacrifice stability and risk injury.
If you do flyes or pec deck, do not overdo it. Your chest routine should generally be bench, incline bench, dumbell presses, standing cable presses, dips, etc. Notice that these are all compound joint movements. In real life, you do not move just one joint. How many joints does it take to kick a ball, swing a bat, punch someone? Use compound joint movements for the majority of your training. |
so no matter how i work my pecs, the whole muscle (inside and outside areas) will be worked evenly?
|
yes
