arthritis question
My sensei is getting pretty old, and he had really bad arthritis in his hands and knees. I was asking him about things i might do or avoid doing to help prevent getting in his situation myself. He told me that, he used to run every day, and that running can damage your knees very badly, in his case after years of running he has had numerous knee surgeries and will soon be getting total replacements. I was wondering everyone elses take on this subject, and maybe if you can drop some pointers on habits i should break or start, so that when im old i will still be able to function properly, or at least better than i would have before. Thanks!

Vitamin D May Prevent Arthritis at least according to WebMD
------------- Other things, that I have heard of for the prevention of Osteoporosis, not exactly arthritis, but is a weaking of the bones, is to not smoke, cut back on alchohol, exercise regularly, including weight bearing exercise, to strengthen the muscles. I have a long family history of arthristis, based on what doctors have told me, I thought it was genetic to some degree, so if you are concerned about it, you can always have a bone density test done at regular intervals to see how you are doing.
