Trip to Orlando - Ideas?
From June 7-11, I'll be getting out of the heat of Washington DC and into the heat of Orlando, Florida.
I've been there once before, back in 1996 on my senior class trip. We did WDW "Grad Night" and Universal Studios. I'm really only free a few of those nights, so anyone have any ideas? I'd be ok with revisiting WDW, but I'm curious if Island of Adventure is worth it, if Disney-MGM is better, if there are any other "theme parks" in the area. Good bars, nightlife, restaurants, etc. |

and you are doing this to get out of the heat? Orlando may be the only place that is muggier than DC.
My Advice? Stay inside and drink heavily.

Right up my alley.....Islands of Adventure is a great park in my opinion..There's a ton of stuff to do in the greater Orlando area.Disney's 3 parks along with their water parks...Seaworld,Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure...Wet and Wild which is a fun water park on International drive and Water Mania on 192 in kissimmee....There's 2 beach's within an hour or so...Daytona Beach and Cocoa beach..The summer is the best time to go....Lot's of women all over the place....Yes it's hot here..It's been in the 90's during the day.But there's tons to do if you're in to those things.

Mongo.. You didn't do him justice..
### If you wanna get fall down drunk with chicks, go to Church Street Station. If you don't hook up or see bewbies there, it must be Monday night!### ### If you are into the "club scene", try Firestone. Not sure if it is still open, but Rave was the scene ### ### WDW has a new "adult theme park" called Pleasure Island. They sell alcohol there like they sell souveniers in the park, EVERYWHERE!!!### ### If you want some "adult entertainment", try Rachel's. Nice, Nice, Nice stuff! ### And... Go to Daytona..

I love Islands of Adventure and Universal. My boyfriend and I have an annual pass to both parks. I think Sea World is a waste of money, but I haven't been there in a few years.
Animal Kingdom in Disney World is also a waste of money, they're trying to compete with Busch Gardens, but fail. |

Let me say I love it for the themes and such, it was just so great but we also took a day and went to Islands of Adventure, and it was awesome!!!!!!! Amazing spider man, hulk, dueling dragons and many more were just great I would highly recommend going there check their packages online first though cause I think you can get some good deals for a decent price

Orlando is great.. I'm only 1.5 hours away.. The theme parks are great, and I'd say my favorite is Universal Studios, though some may disagree.
As far as nightlife goes, 192 in Kissimmee and University Dr. are the hot spots. If your into a little more "Off the wayside" entertainment, try Orange Blossom Trail. Just be carefull. OBT is great daytime fun as far as shopping and food go, try the Florida Mall, right by the Florida Turnpike exit.. Have fun! Oh Hell! I forgot to mention.. On 192 in Kissimmee, there is a place there called "Old Town".. This isn't a major park, but if your into classic cars, Saturday night's the time to go. And just so happens, the 7th of June is their 13th aniversary.. There are suposed to be close to 1000 cars there.. I will probably be there with my 65 Falcon.. There are lots of specialty shops there, clubs, live bands, tons of food, and at 8:30pm all the cars cruis the park.. It's a great time..

If you like good clubs and bars, send me a PM with your interests and I'll give you a list of every single one in downtown, their "scene" (type of music, type of people) and what nights are good for what. I "go downtown" (what it's called if you live anywhere near downtown orlando and go there to the clubs, etc.) several times a week. There are many places for almost everyone. Country, Industrial, Metal, Rock, Techno, Dance, you name it. Let me know.

Advice from the native.
If you like roller coasters then Islands of Adventure is the place to go. As for night life... I would definitely recommend City Walk at Universal Studios. They have 6-8 theme bars with incredible nightlife and it's a much better deal than Pleasure Island. Downtown Orlando is cool on Friday nights IF you have a local to serve as a guide b/c the downtown area is very disorganized. Hope this helps. Have a safe trip.
