STD Tests?

To get to the point, I had sex a few different times (read: different women) while in high school without a condom. I learned my lesson and have since been more dicipline, however I'm looking to get STD tested for the first time so I can finally be at ease. I'm not really worried because I had sex with either virgins (by chance...) or knew the girls really well, however I know that this isn't enough to go on so again I'm just looking to know once and for all where I stand.
I just made an appointment for this friday to planned parenthood and she asked what I want to get tested for. I told her my case and said that I'd basically like the "premium package" :D Right now I'm lined up for HIV, Hep. B and C, syphillis, ghonnerea, and clamidia. Are there any that I'm missing out on? I know there are rarer, more specific STD's out there, but I just want to be able to tell my next partner that "I've been tested" and know that I can stand behind my word.
Thanks guys

Also, on a little more personal note, what test can be done to make for a safer time while participating in watersports with a partner?

I asked her about this and she said they only do the herpes test when you have an outbreak, which I thankfully have never had.

JStrider 05-08-2003 10:15 AM

just because youve never had an outbreak... doesnt garuntee that you dont have it... its possible to not ever have an outbreak... and you would still be contagioius... also theres warts... thats supposed to be really common also...

zfleebin 05-08-2003 12:32 PM

Oh how I miss those days. Having stuffy old women teach me morality while sticking a q-tip in my dick. You deserve respect for getting tested before getting into another relationship thats a bold move.

reverendjay 05-12-2003 07:48 PM

zfleebin I was hoping nobody was going to mention the way they perform the tests... Worst feckin surprise of my young life...

Anyhoo, here's a tip from me, the original Skank Magnet. After my very first 'real' girlfriend and I had unprotected sex for the first time (we were both 18) she disclosed to me that I was #25 on her 'list'. I did the exact same thing you're doing now, planned parenthood and all. I made a vow that I was going to be tested before and after every new partner no matter what, and then I got the test.... Ow.

Here's a neat tip though. The Red Cross will not only discard contaminated blood donations, but they also mark the Donor's record with what they found. The next time you come in to donate, they pull you to the side and explain why they'd rather you didn't roll up your sleeve.

It is Very Important to note that the HIV test will not report positive until there are enough T-Cells to register. It can take anywhere from 6 months to 4 years after the initial infection for you to test HIV positive. Regular Blood Tests are a must if you're sexually active. The minimum recommended schedule is every 6-8 months.

HPV is getting up there in virus popularity, might want to see if you could get that also. And yes, herpes can go contagious without ANY outbreak, so insist they test you.

Thanks for the further info guys. Luckily I havn't had much sex lately (what a fucking oxymoron!) and I'm just concerned about some unprotected sex from about 4 to 2 years ago, as well as some oral with another girl.
As far as HPV goes, what is that? Warts click in my mind first for some reason...
Thanks again guys. Also, any info on the watersport topic?

annie1 05-13-2003 05:53 PM

im confused... what watersport are you talking about, whats the question?

Google is a wonderful tool for finding all sorts of stuff. For instance, http://lib-sh.lsumc.edu/fammed/pted/hpv.html has a complete rundown on Human PapillomaVirus, and http://www.sexuality.org/l/fetish/ws.html looks to be an incredibly comprehensive document all about Watersports.

Annie I don't know you that well so I think I'll let someone else explain it to you.

Lebell 05-14-2003 09:38 PM

wow,

You learn new stuff everyday. I hadn't thought about the red cross blood angle but it makes perfect sense.

Anyway, Planned Parenthood is one of my favorite organizations. I used to do alot of volunteer work for them.

Good luck on the testing, it'll be worth it for your peace of mind.

The most recent HIV test I had only took like 10 minutes. It was such a relief to get the results so quick. Before that I had to wait like two weeks. So nice to have a steady girlfriend that I can trust now. I'll happily never sleep with any other woman for the rest of my life. (Don't quote me on that.)

Jeez, I'm worried more about tuberculosis or SARS than some of these STDs. Not sure why our trustworthy mods wouldn't want it to be known, but watersports in a sexual context refers to partners urinating on one or another. I'd be surprised if many STDs can be communicated this way, maybe there are some parasites. Although urine is basically sterile when first released, it does contain dead blood cells, a possible virus transmitter. This though would require a open wound, exposed sex organ, or ingestion. Never ever ingest. Otherwise have fun and good luck with your tests. If any do come up postive, don't worry it's not the end of the world. Most of the diseases you're being tested for are curable or at least treatable.

-Ever- 05-16-2003 07:55 PM

"These pipes are clean!" :D
Thanks a lot guys. Results for HIV bloodwork and other STDs from the urine test came out negative.
I recomend everyone doing the same if you havn't yet. What a good feeling, even if you do wind up positive with something. It's at least good to know.
Peace

not trying to deny knowledge, just trying to ease some embarrassment on the part of the party who hadn't heard the term before. I'm used to being the confused one who always has to have things explained to, thought i'd return the favor. thanks for clearing it up for anyone else who may not be familiar with the term, though. :)

Glad to see such proper etiquette being used with this interesting of a topic :D

Antagony 05-26-2003 01:47 PM

Being a guy, STDs are a lot easier to detect than with females. However, being tested is always a good idea.

Heel Turn 05-26-2003 01:51 PM

Too many people in this thread seem to be saying, "Oh, I haven't had sex in awhile, so I must be safe." Oral sex, guys. Gotten a blowjob? Went down on a girl? Not sure that they were clean? Get tested. Intercourse isn't the only way to get a STD.
