Assuming the majority of Virginians want this (I have my doubts) then you'll get no argument from me there. However, wrong or not, it's what the majority of the people want. Majority rules.

I came into this thread expecting ignorant attitudes toward the South, I completely saw it coming, yet hoped I would not see that. I realize that you've seen many opposing opinions as to what you've said JP, but I'm completely with shakran on all this.

If there's one thing that pisses me off, it's South-bashing. I think the reason it bothers me so badly is that I'm from the South, and I obliterate basically every Southern stereotype there is. I have a very high IQ, I have a thing for black girls, and my uncle is a homosexual. So when people call us all backwards, racist, inbred, retard rednecks, I kinda take offense to that. If you see my point.

This is a prime example of what I'm talking about, the above quote is the epitome of ignorance, and represents everything the TFP strives to demote. I'm not trying to get you banned meepa, but please keep comments like that to yourself next time. I'm a incredibly Southern person, and very much so proud of that, and I am completely the opposite of everything you obviously THINK the South to be. Next time, know what you're talking about before you say something.

As for the topic of this thread, again, I have a gay uncle, so I think that Virginia's law is bullshit. But many states across the entire Union are considering gay marriage laws, so don't make this a redneck-intolerance thing, because it's not.

EDIT: OK, so it IS a redneck-intolerance thing, but its not a SOUTHERN redneck-intolerance thing. There are ignorant asses everywhere.

Frankly ignorance sucks regardless of it's geographic locale...

I lived the most of my life in N. Va (Dale City, then Alexandria) and I can tell you the upper half of Va. is decidedly NOT redneck. There are redneck areas in the more rural parts but the urban areas are just as progressive as NYC.

With that out of the way, gays should just move. Now wait, let me finish. There are a lot of high functioning gay ppl in Va., some with nice bank accounts, good career skills, no criminal records, etc etc. Just move out of the state and make a movement to boycott Va. to all who believe in the injustice protrayed there. Go Rosa Parks on their asses. See, this is the problem with modern society...we fight nothing at all unless it's as easy as a mouse click of a form on petitiononline.org. Black ppl had to walk MILES to work for a few months to support the boycott. They deliberately made their lives much more difficult and lost a lot of free time to fight against the racist rules of the buses. If you live in Va and think this is wrong, save up and leave! It's a shitty state legally anyway. If you get enough ppl refusing to relocate to Va or an exodus of those who are against this discrimination they will reverse this eventually.
