Aspertame free
I helped my GF cut out sources of aspartame from her diet. She would drink 6-8 diet coke/pepper/everything nutrasweet a day. Add the nutrasweet in coffee. She was taking heavy doseages of aspartame.
It has been over 2 weeks now. I see improvement. Certainly hear less complaing about pains and such. I guess she was hoping for a quick miracle or something. Already she is slipping back into the habit. Has anyone here cut out that stuff and have solid results? I was really hoping she would feel much healthier and therefore happier. ![]() Last edited by Karm; 04-15-2004 at 08:50 AM.. |

I did a research paper on Aspartame last year for my english class. What I learned was that much, if not all, of the controversy behind it was largely unfounded.
Whenever I heard people complaining about aspartame, I immediately wonder if it is not the aspartame reduction that *heals* but the reduction of those products that contain it. Has she actually reduced her soda intake? If so, perhaps she is compensating by drinking healthier beverages? A number of times I've taken to drink diet Pepsi only to find myself feeling somewhat disturbed by it, but from what I know about Aspartame, I would be quicker to blame the soda itself, and all the other chemicals in it, than the Aspartame. Just my feedback on keeping an objective outlook on things. Remeber that often when we reduce something in our diet, we compensate with something else. And, even if we don't compensate with something else, we have often still not effectively controlled important variables. |

yeah
instant headache for me, especially in hot drinks, tea, hot chocolate, etc. the pain passes in 3 hrs. every time. I worked in an office that had swissmiss low fat with nutrasweet and every single time i tried it, bam, headache. I thought it was the job, but as soon as i realized it happened 10 minutes after i finished the drink, i knew the culprit. now, i can tell within a few minutes if something has msg or aspertame. we're talking massive headache material. i hope others aren't this unlucky as for splenda...i can't really tell any side effects other than i don't like the way it tastes...
