too much?
if i drink a whole heap of protein shakes, will it speed my muscle growing, compared to if i just have 1 a day?
also if i have a whole heap of good food like carrots, will i still get fat? thanks |
It'll probably just make you fat on both counts.
It's better than eating a load of chocolate covered hamburgers, but if you're over shooting the amount of calories you can burn in a day, then you're going to gain weight. |
Mmmmmm..... Chocolate covered hamburgers.... *drool*
You can only absorb so much protein at a time. I've been told that amount is around 20-25g, but I've also been told it's as low as 18g and as high as 40g. If you're looking to build muscle you should be aiming for about 1 gram of protein for every pound of body weight, spread out over a few meals/shakes per day. Any more than that and your body starts storing the protein as fat. As for the other question, if you take in more calories than you need for the day, no matter how healthy the foods are, you'll still get fat. Figure out your BMR (just google for 'BMR Calculator') and plan your diet around that. Basically... What Phaenx said. |
Eating lots of carrots might not be bad. I had a huge craving for them when I was pregnant. Ate about a pound of the baby ones every day. Didn't gain that much fat - no more than the normal pregnancy weight gain. It's always best to use moderation in all things. You won't end up getting too much of a bad thing or too little of a good thing.

Carrots are good for you, but calories are calories, if you don't burn them off then your body stores them as fat.
