Urinal vs. Toilet (Question and Poll)
My fellow men,
I was at school and had to avail myself of the facilities and while I was washing my hands afterwards, in walks a gentleman and into a stall he goes to urinate. This even while there is a perfectly good urinal available. Why do some of you do this? I am really curious and I didn't think I could ask the guy at school... |
I use the urinal. It is possible that he had to break wind, or didn't want to violate the universal urinal code, which is to try and leave at least one space between you and the guy next to you, unless dividers are present, or a game is in progress.
|
"This even while there is a perfectly good urinal available"
Well, there goes the theory of breaking the code, or a backed up / not flushed urinal. Maybe hes just really wierd... dunno |
Nope, nope, no reason not to use it.
No one beside him, not dirty, not backed up. |
I like to feel like im at home, so i use the toilet if i can. The only bad thing is worrying about the right angle, so there is no splashing from the urinal.
|
I use the toilet, just as a preference.
|
It's just a matter of privacy for me.
I'm a pretty liberal guy, but I'm also pretty private. I never really feel "right" when I have to use the urinal. Not only that, but I know some fellows get a little out of hand when they use the urinal. I've seen it. Backsplash, bad aim, et cetera. |
Privacy, not to mention that urinals can splash if you're not careful.
Not that I CAN'T use the urinal....but why would you when there's something more private? |

I too have have a mild form of paruresis. I have to take the stall every time as I can't use the urinals.
Some people have to actually catheterize (sp?) themselves to be able to urinate in public restrooms. Google for paruresis for more information. |
If the urinals don't have dividers that are high enough that the person next to me can't see my wang I won't use it and will opt for a stall instead. I like my privacy.
|
I use the urinal, pissing isnt something I feel the need to be private about. Maybe he was wanking it...
|
Toilet.
I really hate the urinals that go all the way to the ground. Why would someone want to piss on their shoes? |

These days, I prefer a urinal, mainly because it's just easier and also because I get a little disgusted stairing at all the piss splashed around by the guys who came before me who _didn't_ raise the toilet seat first. The only time I'll use the toilet stall is if either the urinals are all taken, or if I also need to deal with a bad case of the dreaded Monkey Butt. Oh yeah -- there are still a few old-fashioned multi-user urinals around, the kind that are nothing but a long flat-bottomed metal sink hanging at just below waist height. I won't use those. They smell -- because the bottoms are flat, they don't drain fast -- and frankly, your piss (or worse, somebody else's -- can splash back at you. Most of these are gone, like I said, but you still find them here and there -- at flea markets, old drive-in movie theaters, and such. |

I use the toilet instead of the urinal a lot to urinate. I guess I just like the extra privacy...
|
depends
at my uni there's a urinal that you can see as soon as you open the door (very bad planning) so pretty much everyone just uses the stalls there. Otherwise I use a urinal unless I can't get my personal space around me |
I piss with strong force and get splash back from urinals.
|
Honestly....I just want to get out of most public restrooms as fast as I can, thus the urinal.
|
urinal... its a bigger target.

I never go in a urinal if there's an alternative available. I prefer my privacy, and don't really feel like I have to justify it.
|
Urinal: quicker, easier, bigger target.
Stall: more private, more time-consuming, long way to aim. When I've been wearing pants for a long time, for some reason, I can't piss in a straight line. IT splits into two or three streams, completely soaking the area around the toilet. A urinal prevents this, and that's why I always sit instead of risking it when no urinal is available. |
I need the stall...the privacy is better and I am "pee shy" :(

Are you feeling like I am saying you have to "justify" it, and if so, why then did you answer the thread? In any event, thanks for the responses everyone. I've never suffered from any type of shyness when it comes to peeing, so your responses gave me a new perspective. |

Good thread, all the same. |
Urinal all the way, but I don't care much about privacy nor do I have much shame so....

My appologies, that was not my intent. |
The toilet for me depends, wether the toilet is clean or not. Cause i like to sit down while taking a piss, i know it's slow and kinda like pissing like a woman. But it's more comforting, esp if it's one of those piss that takes forever.
|
Another thing bad about urinals is they tend to get my butt wet and the back of my shirt.
Whats with not haveing toilet tissue close by too? |

Urinal for me. I don't think too many guys stand and look at other guys while peeing, so privacy isn't an issue.
That said, there's nothing like peeing outside:D |
Urinal. I don't care if some guy tries to check out my wang, because i don't think that really happens all that much. I don't worry about splatter because i wash my hands afterward.
On a side note, why has no one designed a urinal with sprayback minimization in mind? It would be so fucking easy. |

Simple really, when I REALLY have to go I couldn't care less where I piss as long as I do it.
When the tank is half empty so to speak I can get put off by things like someone entering the toilets or washing their hands... then thinking about it just makes the problem worse.. so then its the old u-turn into an empty stall. Honestly when I can't take a gamble or in am in a hurry the stall is always the best option, privacy is an unbeatable cure for "stage fright" imo. |
