What a great thread!! I've been interested in this for awhile but since I live in LA, it is near impossible to get started (or so I think). Is it a lost cause or am I missing something?

Thanks for posting this! This guy sounds like me (except for the Range Rover) - I've been driving around the city like crazy and have had several houses go under contract as I was thinking through my offer. I'm learning that I need to know value so I can move fast when I find a good one.

Anybody else watching this thread?

Made a couple offers this week... One was rejected (though they may counter) and the other was (GULP!) accepted. I'm in the game! Seems like the more I look, the more I'm finding. I'm gearing up to crank my marketing machine to hopefully find some distressed houses that I can get quick.
