legs!
i have skinny legs and would like to make them bigger. i dont have much equipment at my house, just a barbell and dumbells. what are some things i can do?
ive started to lift regularly and have a good plan for my upperbody but besides squats my legs i think are left out. |
Squats (with barbell or dumbells), dumbell lunges, and weighted calf raises to name a few.

Lunges are good to do and you can do them at home. Does your gym have circuit type equipment(non free weights)? If so, I would do leg extension, squats, calf lifts and the hip sled. This is at least what my gym calls that equipment. Also, ride a bike at high resistance. Finally, look around and see what other people are doing to get ideas.

thanks for your help. i do not go to a gym, dont really feel like spending the money..... i use free weights at home.

Mountain biking has worked will for me. Regular cycling would be jsut as good. In my opinion it is more enjoyable than a gym or boring old weights. It is a great way to explore cities or nature.

here's a fun and creative one to do with a partner:
lie sideways on your bed, on your back. Have your husband/wife/whatever stand at your feet. Put your feet on their chest, have them lean toward you, and do leg presses - bend your knees until your thighs are almost touching your chest, then extend your legs until they are almost straight. |
Biking will definitely help, if you do a lot of good slopes. Weights and a leg-intensive exercise like biking are sort of synergistic. I always made better gains when I did both, rather than weights alone.
Also had good results with weight training combined with traditional roller skating (with ankle weights). Got rid of those skinny calves once and for all. |
