*Gasp* Weight GAIN!

Ok here are the facts...

I'm just about 6 ft, about 140 lbs. I'm very thin. Basically, what I want to do is gain some weight, and start weight lifting to turn it into muscle.

Ok, here's the deal though. I'm the world's pickiest eater. I hate salads, I hate most vegetables, I can't stand nuts, etc etc.. Most of my food I eat is unhealthy and non nutritional. Basically, am I just screwed? Can I take lots of vitamins and protein supplements to make up for it? I get enough calories, that's about it though.. If anyone has any insight into this, let me know. I've read most of that Max-OT Thing on John Stone's website, so I'm gonna build a routine like that. I just basically need the weight lifting though, more than the fat burning stuff, considering I'm pretty lean as it is. I must have a high metabolism or something..

Well there it is.. suggestions? Comments? Death threats?

Definetly get a powder weight gain formula... there's lots out there. I tried one that was 2000 calories per serving, that combined with heavy weights put on the mass fast !

Lets say I don't work out as much as I should, is all this weight going to pile on as fat?

I thought you said you were going to build a weight training program. Don't think about what happens if you fail, just build your routine and stick to it. Don't let things get in the way of that happening, and you won't have to worry about the weight piling on as fat.

Hrmm What if I don't have the money for Gym's weights etc? :P Water Jugs!

That was probably a dumb question eh?

So do you or don't you want to start weight lifting? There's no getting around it, if you want to build muscle, you have to do some form of weight training.

i'd said that whey protein would be good for you, but if you donīt do any exercise at all, it definatley will pile as fat.

Yes - you're screwed.

If you really want to attain your goal, start eating stuff you dont like. Lay off all the non-nutritionnal fat ridden crap. I also am looking to gain muscle mass and weight without adding fat so i have adjusted my diet accordingly, or so i am trying to do. Your going to need alot of calories from healthy foods and Im afraid your going to have to start calculating your daily carb, protein and fat intake.

Refer to this page : http://www.t-mag.com/nation_articles/faq.jsp
Scroll down theres alot of talk about diets, what foods to eat, which not too eat, supplements etc etc .

regards,
shoe

I'm screwed :( I can't stand healthy food. Most vegetables make me gag when I try to eat them. It's horrible. This is the worst thing you could have. :/

If you want it bad enough..

To gain weight you need to eat more. Now where that weight ends up is up to you. You're not going to be able to eat more of the junk you are eating now and expect to put on lots of muscle without additional fat.

I used to be a picky eater, and weighed 140 lbs at 6'1. I realised a few months ago that wasn't going to cut it and started eating more, and learned to eat new foods. Most notable were eggs, and i'm still struggling with tomatoes. Put in the effort, it's worth it. Stay away from empty calories, eat good healthy foods that you like at first, even if it's monotonous. Be more adventuresome, combining food you dislike with food you like (as seperate portions of a meal). If you go to a college there will probably be a free gym there, if not, a few dumbbells don't cost much, and you can do pushups and the like to start off with.

Lets say you only use one leg in a marathon, will you loose ?

If you wanna gain weight, do it .. There is no middle way for gaining weight fast ..
You have to put your body into a shock condition, which means that you have to do something that you are not used to.

If that means heavy weights, and lots of eating .. do so :)
