Can Allegra cause you to have heart palpitations. I started taking it a couple of days ago for the first time (I'm continually clogged up in my nasal passages) along with some steriod nasal inhaler prescribed by my doctor.

Yesterday, I noticed that every 10 / 15 beats, it feels like my heart just bangs hard once or twice. Could that be a side effect of the medication?

It's possible. You should call your Dr you may be able to get an answer without even making an apt or going in. Good Luck.

Plain allegra is an antihistamine which usually does not give any stimulant side effects like palpatations. Allegra-D has a decongestant added which has stimulation as its main side effect.

If you just took the plain allegra, make sure you haven't been eating/drinking anything with a stimulant-soda, chocolate, supplements, coffee, etc. and if you haven't, and the palpatations continue, go back to your doc for a check to rule out other conditions that can cause it(like hyperthyroidism)

BTW nasally inhaled steroids usually do not cause palps either

There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge is to traverse its full length. And there I travel, looking, looking, ...breathlessly. -Carlos Castaneda
