Jumping Higher
I'm sure this thread has been made before but I couldn't find it. I'm looking to be able to dunk, I'm 5'11" right now and can either touch rim or grab depending on how good I'm feeling that day. I'm hoping someone can suggest some exercises to increase jumping ability. I'm looking for primarily non-weight exercises, but if hitting the gym is necessary that's fine too. As for the intensity, I'd be willing to go as hard as possible. If anyone had a time-estimate as well that'd be great, thanks for the help

There has been a thread as such: Jumping higher?.
Within it I have listed some plyometric exercises that do not need weights or a gym membership. Good luck too you. |
There is a jumping program called Air Alert 2 which takes 12 weeks. There's no equipment involved, just a workout which gradually increases each week. It claims to increase your vertical by 8-12 inches but I didn't finish the whole 12 weeks due to back injury. I got an increase of 3" around week6 and 3" more by week8 (when I stopped). I know a bunch of people who swear by it (black and non-black) plus I've seen results from my own trial. If you can't find the program on the web (it's just a chart and some pictures explaining each exercise) PM me.
Also, the first two weeks you actually lose some vertical because your legs are just not used to getting worked like that. It takes dedication, too: 5 days a week for 12 weeks. Good luck in your search for the workout most suitable for you! |
PM sent, I have always wanted to jump higher and I have nothing better to do than go to the gym 5 times a week. Actually it will be helpful to get me motivated.

Look up plyometrics on the web.
