A question concerning weight gain/loss
I'm 5' 5" and 118 lbs. I would like to lose weight so that my abs will become visible, but I also realize that I should gain weight right now so that I can build muscle first. My question is, how long should the period of weight gain be, and how long should the weight loss period be (to tone up)? Thanks.

To build ripped muscles it takes years. To shed bodyfat it could take a long time as well depending on how much you have to lose. Everybody's body works differently. Some bulk all winter long and then start cutting about 3 months before summer hits. Some maintain a cleaner bulk cycle and do it all year long (gaining muscle while staying relatively trim. Takes a lot of knowledge about nutrition and exercise to achieve this). Sounds like you might be looking for quick results, and to be brutally honest with you, there aren't any. Getting in shape, losing fat, gaining muscle... it all takes a lot of patience and dedication.
Personally, I prefer clean bulking around 16 weeks, then slow cutting for 12-16 weeks. This works great for me. Like I said, figure out your goal and then we can help you from there . Last edited by Plan9Senior; 12-29-2003 at 04:12 PM.. |
