supplements, which to buy?

okay, once classes start in january and i can get into the gym everyday (it's closed during break), i'm going to start working on some bodybuilding. but i've never been all that into supplements, and don't know about most of them.

so what types of supplements should i consider taking? what do they do? do you use them and have a good experiance with them? can you recommend a specific type of that supplement (ie. brand/product name) and how much does it typically cost?

thanks!

First off, we need to know your health goal before we can advise some good suplements for you.

Well, if you are going to do a lot of lifting, you should definately take a calcium supplement if you don't want to have sore joints all the time.

body building. weight loss won't be much of an issue... long term it will be to get it down low enough to see the six pack and all. but i'm gonna start working on putting on mass. i don't use supplements now, and i've never used anything other than protein powder. i know about creatine and what it does, but i've never bothered keeping up on all of the other ones.

Here is the list of top supplements people buy when trying to gain mass:

- Protein
- Creatine
- Glutamine
- Multi-Vitamin
- Natural Test Booster
- Prohormones
- HMB
- Growth Hormone
- NO2
- Anti-Estrogens
- Protein Bars
- Amino Acids
- Methoxy, Ecdy
- ZMA

My suggestion is sticking with the top 4 on that list. Whey, micronized creatine, glutamine, and a multivitamin. Since you are obviously familiar with the protein and creatine, I can post some info on what it does for the body. If you have any questions about the other supplements listed, feel free to ask :

Glutamine

L-Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in muscle tissue. It helps prevent muscle wasting and improves recovery. It also helps protein synthesis. The better and quicker you recovery, the sooner and harder you can hit it in the gym! Glutamine is safe to talk year-round.

Glutamine should not be taken at the same time as creatine because they compete for receptors to be absorbed. Take glutamine pre-workout and creatine post-workout.
