Sleep Drought

I have been awake for exactly 60 hours come 7pm EST. Why you ask? I was up all Thursday night launching a new business venture online, so no sleep. Last night? I was at the launch party for said business venture, then I drove two hours to hang out with friends all night. By the time the sun had come up, I had to get in the car to drive back home for a meeting. Needless to say, my time to sleep the past few days has been few and far between.

So, what is the longest you have gone without sleep? What do you do to keep your sanity?

This 60+ hour stretch is my record. I find that I am tired in spurts. I will be ass tired for about 2 hours and then completely fine for an extended period. Red Bull, Speed Stacks, and other forms of caffeine help too.

My mood is shit though. I am really on edge

The longest I stayed up must be around 40 hours. I don't think I could stay awake for much longer than that.. What I used to keep me awake: alcohol and coffee.

BTW, congrats on your business ;P

I stayed up once for about 45 hours. I got really antsy about this trip I was going on, so I just didn't bother going to bed for the night before. When I got there, I was so excited I couldn't sleep.

However, the recovery period from that one .. (I slept 20 hours straight) was a little crazy.

When I first started a job working overnights, I had a really hard time sleeping during the day, it was common for me to go 2-3 days without sleep (something in the neighbourhood of 50 hours). I'd lie in bed from maybe 10 am to 4 pm and finally say "fuck it, guess I'm not gonna get any sleep today" and got back out of bed. I didn't start getting any regular sleep until I started hitting the gym right after work.

i've done 60+ a couple times. not sure exactly how long though, because towards the end i can't remember when the last time i slept was... it's weird, my mind would be right where it needs to ber for some things, but then i'd be like a complete zombie and unable to think for others.

I have gone >36 hours many times. I think my record is around 50. I did not use any caffeine boost drinks, but I drank quite a bit of pop.

I have friends who are nurses or similar at hospitals who sometimes didn't get any sleep for 3-4 days. They had my admiration.

Lately I've been finding it difficult to do anything and have done a lot of sleeping too. Unfortunately, I kinda need to study... finals this coming week.

Hope this gets sorted out by tomorrow...

A little over 40 hours, once or twice. The only thing that keeps me awake that long is airline travel. Can't sleep on planes, especially in those crappy, uncomfortable, crowded seats in coach, and I don't have much luck in terminals, either.

Fortunately, I don't fly much anymore.

In hour 66, I was talking on AIM to friends and in #tfp, and I just passed out. I woke up this morning with my iBook on my lap.

I only got 8 hours. I figured I would have slept at least until 11.

My record is 40 hours, but the funny thing was that after the 30 hr point, I no longer felt like sleeping. I only went to bed because my reason for staying up was over and I figured it would be unhealthy to stay up longer. It took me 30 min. or so to fall asleep.

Once again, Tikki, I say GO TO BED!!! Sheesh! You're worse than me!!

I've been known to go a few days without sleep. But I typically end up cranky and not safe to drive. Imagine that, huh? lol

Lately I've been absolutely DYING from lack of sleep though. I started working 6 day weeks, waking up earlier in the morning than I've had to since I was in high school, and not going to bed until 3 or so in the morning. Shit. I should probably be in bed right now...
