6/7 depends on if I have stuff going on if I get to sleep more. Work kind of interferes.

I try for about 7 or 8 since I get cranky with 6 or less. Just ask hubby (dei37) he'll vouch. Mostly though I get to sleep/bed around 10/11pm but on weekdays I have one little girl that I watch for parents that work second shift. They're normal shift would bring them home around 11:00 but they usually work overtime till 12:00am and last week was until 1:00am every night. So I go to "bed" on the couch at 10 or 11 and then at 12:00 or 1:00 after the parents pick up their kid I check to see if I can get into my bed or if hubby is sprawled across the whole thing. It's only a full size bed and he's not easy to wake so when he's sprawled all across it then it can be nearly impossible to find a spot to sleep that isn't half falling off the edge. So Sometimes I sleep those 7/8 hours on the couch all night.

I said 4/5 because there are some weeks where I get 0-3 on average, and other weeks where I get 4-6 on average... Then I sleep in a ton on the weekends, so I figured I'd just go with a 4 hour average.
There's been some weeks like the other week where I slept 9.5 hours total, stretched between 5 nights.

By the time I get home from work, get something to eat and unwind a bit it is already starting to get late so I average 6-7 hours a night; and then get up and start it all over again...

There was a question about native language in dreams. I spent a long time in Europe and evertually my dreams were in German. My German sucks, but being in the country for such a long time, it happens. There is a very strong connection between memories and language development, which should have an impact on dreams.
As for sleeping, I think I average about the 6.5 hours, however I can't keep a regular schedule. College was a real party, so sleeping regular was never happening. First real job, less than 2 years out of college, was a nightshift. Did that for over 2 years, and then being in a foreign country for over 5 with all the excitement kept sleep away pretty well. I can sleep, I just can't seem to hold a normal schedule. I have been told that's very bad. I tend to agree. midnight to 7 on monday, 9pm to 5am tuesday, 10pm to 9am wednesday and thursday, less than two hours friday... yeah, and i think it'll be worse once the broadband is installed........ |

I completely blame TFP for keeping me up 'till 2AM on a regular basis. Staring at the computer screen that long and then going to sleep, then waking up the next morning with my eyes really dry and feeling like all the iron in my body was stripped clearn out of my system while I was asleep. Isn't it great to be an insomniac?

i sleep about 6/7 hours a night. i find i cant get to sleep before 12 for some reason. when i studied (dont anymore, decided it wasnt for me) i would go with 3-4 for nights on end. after reading what lordjeebus said about more sleep gives you better memory retention i im thinking i should start sleeping more so i have a better memory.

With everything that has been going on I have been getting to sleep at 3 4 in the morning waking up atleast once in the middle of the night for about an hour. Then when my alarm goes off at 20 after 7 I have to get my son ready to go to school. I come home after taking him to the bus at about 20 after 8 and go back to sleep for an hour or 2. So all told I am getting about 4 to 5 hours of broken sleep a night.

During the week, when I need sleep the most, I can't ever get to sleep. But on the weekends, I usually stay up every night until 4-6 a.m. and then I sleep till about 4ish the next evening! My body clock is severely messed up!

I always get 8 hours of sleep. My biggest piece of advice to anyone who's sleep deprived is not change your sleeping schedule on the weekends. My roomates think I'm weird because of this, but on the only one who's not tired (and doesn't need coffee) on monday morning.

I voted as a 6/7 hour guy... However that would be an average. I work nights and trying to sleep during the day is one of the hardest things. I generally will get anywhere from 3-5 hours during the day and then take an nap on my lunch hour at work. That seems to keep me going during the week. Then when the weekend comes I'll sleep at night with my wife and will get a full 8 hours.

I usually get between 5-7 hours of sleep a night. Sometimes less, sometimes more. I plan on sleeping 11-6, but it always ends up being 12:30-6 or a little later.

I usually can't sleep for more than 8-9 hours, but try to get at least 7-7.5 per night.
One trick I've picked up from my 7-months-pregnant wife is that if you find yourself regretting the early arrival of 6:30 AM (because you have to get up and go to work), you should get up with her in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom (or whatever, just wake up a little). Then, you actively realize how many more hours of sleep you have. Works wonders for my mood at 0630. |

I generally am happy with a 7 hour sleep. If I sleep less than 5-6, I'm a zombie, but if I sleep more than 9, it can trigger a migraine, don't ask me why as I've no idea.
So I try to get about seven hours...

Normally during the week I get 4-5 hours a night. On the weekend I can get more if the child lets me.
I think in general I am just sleep deprived. I have never been able to nap. Although I think that there might be a genetic link to sleeping. My father only sleeps about 4 hours a night. And has since I can remeber. Anybody else notice this? On another note. I know they say everyone dreams but if I do I never remeber them. My wife says I sleep like the dead. I never move and never wake up. |
