It's my favorite Island in the Carribbean so far. I've been to three trips there, mixed between low budget scuba excursions to fancy, expensive cruises. St. Thomas just has an overall good feel to it. It's developed enough that it seems to have a solid society and town and out there enough that you know that basically anyone you run into there absolutely loves the place (a pretty important judgment in the overall happiness and standard of societies in my mind) What a beautiful place. :sigh:
Other places I've been are: St. John (caneel bay resort) Cozumel Belieze Honduras Puerto Rico (just san juan) Dominican Republic Barbados Gran Caymen The islands are definitely where dreams are made. Seeing them has fueled such a raging fire to travel and I know that I've been blessed to travel to such exotic places at such an early age (about to turn 21) St. Thomas? A+

I stopped there twice on cruises. The first time I went over to Megan's Bay. The second time I went to St John's to snorkel at Trunk Bay.
St Johns (12/17 I meant St Thomas) is certainly beautiful, but it is crowded. I don't know what the resorts would be like. I also liked diving at Cane Bay on St Croix. You really feel like you have gotten away from everything there.

I have to say St. Thomas is also my favorite Caribbean island. How is it living in the states now? So different. My favorite part of St. Thomas was the jewlery shopping .
Goes to show that it's all subjective, I didn't like Martinique at all.

The VI's are amazing. I was sailing in the BVI's last year and had a great time. I've never actually been to the USVI's though. They looked to be quite a bit more built up than the BVI's. I've sailed a bit in the southern West Indies as well but the BVI's have been my best experience down that way.
My parents actually spend 3 months out of the winter every year sailing around the BVI's. Their actually there right now. Wish I was. |

My vacation to St Thomas definitely rates as one of *the* best I ever went on, even if it was with the family
Stayed at Sapphire Beach, its name did not do it justice.
