Yeah, I guess he built what he built. But, that also may have been "the style" for long-span suspension bridges at the time, given the materials available. There are a fair number of bridges from that era that look like that.
Case in point, not bridge related -- I live in a beach town with a classic wood rollercoaster called The Giant Dipper, built in '25 by some famous coaster guy. A few years ago I went down to San Diego and there on Ocean Beach was -- another Giant Dipper. Same name, same materials and construction, though smaller. Turns out they were built by different people, but at the same time. That's jus the style they were building rollercoasters in, back in '25. Same principle could hold true for suspension bridges. None of which diminshes the impact of those pictures, and the jarring effect they have. Thanks for posting. |
