Trust me on this one guys... it's like West Virginia rural, and the people don't speak english, or french, or german, or even portugeese... The language sounds like Spanish spoken with a mouthfull of carpet tacks. Don't be fooled by the pictures, the only pictures you will see of this place is of the ocean taken from the shore, because no one wants to turn the camera around and snap a few photos of the 120,000 begging semi-homeless people that inhabit this crap-hole. Enough about that rant...

Well, speaking as someone of part-Portuguese descent, I can tell you that nearly all the Portuguese and Portuguese-Americans on my stretch of the west coast come from the Azores not mainland Portugal. And there are a lot of them out here. I suppose that if it were all that good on the Azores, nobody would have left.

this doesn´t surprise me, most tiny island nations are not equiped as decent holiday destinations... they are more suited to the more budget, intrepid holiday makers... (or in the case of my home island, pensioner holiday makers)...
