woot... well not yet
Im going on a cruise to mexico :D
8 days and half a day at disneyland on the way back :D the cruise ship looks huge ... maybe ill meet some interesting girls **crosses fingers** anyways, I was wondering if anyone know approxemitaley how much money should be brought on the first trip to mexico for souvineiers and what not..? this post doesnt really have much of a point, but i cant wait :D i bet i will get a major sunburn tho because i have like no tan at all.. im inside a warehouse all the time... eek but yay:crazy: |
The exchange rate in Mexico is pretty good, so you can get more for less. It all depends on what you're hoping to get, of course. Most towns have shopping districts that do business via haggling, so no price is set instantly.
One thing to know about Mexico: Silver is very cheap there and you can get great deals. You can also get viagra without a prescription, should you want to. :) |
hah.. well i will be 19 when im on the cruise... i dont think i need viagra... but w/e :P... silver you say... hmm, how much USD do you thin k would be good for maybe like tee-shirts / shot glasses.. and whatever (incase i decide to buy some silver/whatever else is fancy)... maybe 300us?

Here's a tip, if you go into a town to buy souveniers, dress in your "poorest" clothes. Also carry different denominations in each pocket. 5 in one 10 in the other, etc.. that way when your haggling you can pull out your money from one pocket and say 'This is all I have.'
But by the date I just noticed you're already on the cruise. Oh well, anyone else have any haggling tips? Aw hell, I'll just start another thread. New Thread Here |
Don't act like you like anything too much and go from shop to shop like you're not too serious. If you start to walk away, they'll usually keep decreasing the price. Women are tougher negotiators than men and if you buy more than one thing from the same place, you can usually get them to go down some more. That's my best stuff... Good luck and have fun!

u stopping in Cozumel?
if so, i can offer a couple tips, been there a couple times so far myself... 1. get off the main street right along the beach..i don't remember what it's called, but for shopping it will be the most expensive... 2. check out the places around the plaza or 'town square' area, just a couple blocks from the ocean...lots of restaurants and shops..there's a nice shopping-alley kinda thing that goes off somewhere on the right hand side (god i'm so vague, but if i was there i'd kno right where to go...) hmm, i can prolly dig up lots more specific info regarding Cozumel from my mom's website, as she kinda works there, virtually and occasionally IRL... if you can verify that you're really stopping in cozumel i'll go through the trouble ;) |
i believe i am stopping there.. unl;ess its somewhere that sounds like that
