Protein Shakes

Are these good for you? I've started making them on recommendation of a friend. I want to gain a little more weight and start working out.

yeah they don't hurt and if you are looking to get huge you should be consuming 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh!! And definetly hit the weights when you are taking the protein shakes to really benefit from them!! They are a great source of getting that extra protein you need without sitting and eating cans and cans of tuna!!

And you need to hit the weights in a big way. It'll work, but it'll take time.

Just to throw my .02 in here. They can't really be bad for you. Protein can never really be that bad for you, unless your taking entirely too much, but that's pretty hard to do. I have a whey protein shake after workouts that has about 45g of protein. It's fast-absorbing and helps to strengthen and repair torn muscle fiber.

That only gives us a fraction of the picture. You need to know how much fat, carbs, sodium, etc is in it before you deem it worth eating. I have seen protein bars with trans fatty acids before, and that is the absolute worse thing you can put in your body regardless of the protein content it offered.

My point is, KNOW what you are putting into your body. An unresearched protein bar could result in you eating the equivelant to a big candy bar if you don't read the important nutritional info on the side
