Venice->Florence->Milan!

Well I postponed my trip to Egypt for a few months. Our mid-semester break is coming up in two weeks and I just planned a quick trip to Venice, Florence, and Milan with a girl that I met at my school here in London (study abroad...) We're spending two nights in each town.
Any recomendations for anything besides the obvious? :D
Thanks for any info

Two nights for Venice and Milan may be enough. There is much to see and do in Florence. If you want an idea for "beside the obvious", when we went there last year, we rented a car from Florence, drove along the beaches and visited Pisa. It was a very memorable experience.

there are a couple of restaurants on a hill overlooking the city of Florence that I highly recommend, though I can't remember the name. The view at sunset was amazing. There's a bronze reproduction of the David on the street just beneath the restaurant, and you should at least go there to see the top of the Duomo at sunset.
Stay away from Il Cibreo-a restaurant in all the guidebooks as greatest one in Florence. It's pricey and weird and the food is not all that great unless you like stuffed chicken heads.
Also, try to see the church of Santa Croce. Not the prettiest church, but I was amazed that the tombs of so many people that had an impact on western civilization were under one roof. Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Dante and Galileo and I think some more famous people too. Hope you read this in time.

If you're going to Milan, sometimes the best way to see things is to get your hands on a scooter and jet around that way. The Castle Art Museum is pretty nice- it was the only place I found in Italy with air conditioning!

That restaurant on a hill overlooking the city of Florence was the site of a date on the next joe millionaire last night, just in case anyone was interested.

granted, i didn't give it as much time as florence or rome. but i really disliked milan. it seemed too dirty and industrial. did anyone else feel this way?
