I'm joining the army. I'll be serving in central Tel-Aviv, in an open base. This means that I'll work from 9am to 5pm, five days a week. And I can go home and do whatever I want whenever I am not working.

Anyway, this also means that I have to get myself a place to stay in, away from my dear parents' house. I've found two relatively-cheap apartments that are close geographically to my base:

1. Me + two guys
2. Me, one guy, two girls. (the guy will probably be away most of the time. He's a student, and goes to a university in another city).

So I think I'm going to choose the first option, because the girls will most likely make many life-style regulations, that I'll rather not follow. And, besides, they don't look like a bisexual couple.

On the other hand, their place is closer to where I'll work, and it's $20/month cheaper.

What do you think?

I would just go with the first one because their will be less people. The mess made by 3 people should be more managable than the mess made by 4 people. Each additional person just makes cleaning that much harder.

I live with a guy and a girl here at college.

Living with women definitely makes you cleaner, even though Amber here doesnt really care about messes that much (shes very cool) us guys still live cleaner because we live with a gal. If you have time, spend some with the people you may be living with, and talk all these details out. Come in with a list of questions and work it out.

In the end, you'll make the right choice.

i'd pick living with girls because they have a tendancy to be cleaner... not always, but usually.

Also they have friends, which means more chances for you to meet single girls.

I dono, Cynthetiq - of my 5 female roommates and Ratbastid's 2, 5 of the 7 were COMPLETE SLOBS. Not a very scientific survey, but just wanted to speak up against that particular expectation.

The girl roommates are probably better off for you socially, but the situation is going to be vastly more complicated because there are more people and more genders.

I'd go with whichever situation you think will be easiest to get out of if it doesn't work out.

All that has been said is true; women tend to be cleaner (my ex was a big exception) but you might want to do a pro/con list before deciding.

On the pro side, you might list that they will have female friends over that you might use as a date pool. (Unless you have a girlfriend in which case, this is a BIG con! :D )

Have you talked to them? Get a feel for what the people are like, if you can - that really decides everything when you're living with people, more than number or gender or whatever. Use the phone. See how a conversation goes. Good luck.

Talk to all parties involved, and go with the ones you get along with best. Remember: gender is useless in this situation; if you can't get along with one or more of your prospective roomies, then it'll be a living Hell once you move in.
