How to say "I don't remember you"??
I've been talking to a person for a few weeks now that I knew along time ago. It seems like I'm always thinking "Was that you?" After some thought I guess it was, because I cant think who else I would have done that with. I do remember hanging out with her, but I only remember her as someone who was always around because we shared the same friends.
Anyways, anyone have any ideas how to tell her that I don't remember her like she remembers me, or even if I should tell her? |
question 1: how are you talking to them? on instant messanger? in class?
question 2: is she hot? do you wish to mate with her? Until i know more i cannot help. |
the gist:
"just out of curiosity, I don't remember how we met... do you?" or you could try asking mutual friends, or any of your friends ... or try asking one of her friends, but chances are, her friend will talk to her. *shrug* i'd go for the direct approach. |
That happens to me all the time :D
I just play along until they realize I'm not interesting and they leave me alone :) |
I'm sorry I can't really help but had to point out that this reminds me so much of the Sienfeld episode when Jerry doesn't know his girlfriends name.
|
Hi I'm ( name). We've met before and I'm sorry, but I don't recall if I got your name?
Works every time. |
If you're looking to be ANYTHING more than friends, you better go with honesty. Honesty will get you respect in the long run, but if you lie now and play it off and it comes back to you later, you're fucked.
|
honesty. always easier in the long run.
|
Yes just be honest. It's always harder to do the right thing, but that's how you know its the right thing.
|
Well I don't know if we'll be anything more than friends. I was never really interested in her and I cant and dont want to enter a relationship with her.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to tell her that I dont really remember us being so close. Maybe she just ebellishes the conversations a bit to keep them interesting. /me wonders how Jerry Sienfeld handled this situation :) |
Good luck friend.
|
"I am SOOO sorry, but I have to confess that I just don't remember you. Can you please refresh my poor memory???"
Easy. Just do it. |
i agree with everyone. you gain nothing by pretending to remember her. you can always blame alcohol for a bad memory.
|
It sounds like she is definitely interested in you, and was back when you knew her before. Either way, just be honest and tell her you don't remember it all the way she does.
|
This would be a good time for some good-natured self-depricating humor. You know, rag on your bad memory and how silly you feel... That'll help her be at ease about it.
|
be honest, it's always better in the long run
|
Be honest and forthcoming about it. Joke about yourself to make things easier on the other person.
If honesty doesn't work, just say you were hit in the head in a freak croquet accident and you have partial memory loss. :) |
<--- votes for honesty, at somepoint you might get caught for not remembering her anyway and then you probably hurt her feelings for not having respected her enough to say it...its difficult but probably better
|
<-- votes for dishonesty. Don't listen to these people. Just pretend like you recognize her. Eventually, you'll find out the details and remember. Until then, LIE!
|
just tell her. She might think it's cute (crosses fingers).
|
Go direct. I've had this happen before. Ran into a girl I went to high school with one night at a bar. She was all, hey how ya doin? After I stare blankly at her she says, "You don't remember me do you?" My direct reply was, "no"
