Are Ephedra Free Weightloss Supplements Worth it?
I am currently looking for a great weight loss supplement ..but the things is that my state IL. has banned all ephedra (ma huang) products. Yesterday I've purchased an ephedrine free hydroxycut and searched around engines regarding this supplement, but so far I haven't found a single user review about Hydroxycut and if there is one i't usually contains (Ma Huang) and most of the reviews were very high rated. Does the new Ephedrine Free Supplement have the same result as the old one? So if you are using any ephedrine free products pls recommend it to me and any replies would be truly appreciated.. and yes.. I do workout 5-6 times a week!

I haven't tried any thermogenic suppliments, but I've read in a number of places that citrus aurantium has the same desired effect as ephedra but without the risk of cardiovascular complications (ie. heart attack, stroke, etc)
an article about ephedra and citrus aurantium

I know several people who take them coupled with a cardio routine with great results (aside from feeling hot all the time). SAN TIGHT is the one that seems to be the best at the moment. Like axolotls said, they wont work as well as ones with ephedra but they wont do as much damage to your body.
Personally, I avoid all the weight loss suppliment crap. The best results will be a good diet and cardio!. A lot of people take weight loss suppliments thinking that they can shed the fat without cardio, but without cardio you will never get that six pack to show . My advice is to avoid all fat burning pills. Just my $.02. Last edited by Plan9Senior; 09-23-2003 at 07:57 PM.. |

Ephedra/Ephedrine is a stimulant that's used as an ingredient in diet pills, illegal recreational drugs, and legitimate over-the-counter medications to treat congestion and asthma - uhh Sudafed if you're an aussie (maybe US as well i dunno - and others)
It's similar to amphetamines (ie. ecstasy) so therefore has the same kind of risks. Side effects? Here we go! Heart attack, stroke, tachycardia, paranoid psychosis, depression, convulsions, coma, fever, vomiting, palpitations, hypertension, seizures and respiratory depression....incredibly similar to reactions to a bad batch of E/a bad reaction to a good batch of E, Black Beauties or Speed. Ephedra reduces appetite and stimulates fat metabolism - snazzy way of saying it stimulates your central nervous system. CAUTION! DON'T MIX EPHEDRA WITH GINSENG! CAUSES CARDIAC ARRYTHMIAS!!!!!!!! Just thought i'd mention it... Anyway - on that note - BE CAREFUL WHO YOU TAKE INFORMATION FROM! And that's on any subject. Many sites will say one thing and others will say the opposite (wow leads back to History - the purpose of a source!) If a site wants to sell ephedra it will manipulate information to make it sound wonderful!! NOTE THIS!!!!!! In short - I'd say they ain't worth it! If you really want to lose weight, go to a dietician or nutritionist! I don't know if you guys have the same kind of thing over in the states (???). They will work with you to devise an eating and exercise plan completely moulded to fit your lifestyle! Hope my ranting has been of helpfulness! Last edited by Miranda; 09-27-2003 at 03:41 AM.. |
