i have to say that plane held up surprisingly well. Travelling at 400 mph and hitting hail stones that big is impressive as hell. If i was the pilot though i would have been friggin terrified. Especially the one that hit the window.

haha... iīve always wondered why planes have such tiny windows... but if they have to fly through scary hail storms like this, i can see why.. (i know thats not the real reason).
thats truly terrifying. i canīt begin to imagine how the passengers and pilots felt during this. |
Thats insane! I wonder what a hailstorm cloud looks like from inside

i'll never enjoy fying into a storm again, i've always seen it as a bit exciting

We had a plane that stopped at our ramp (back at the airport I used to work at) and it was pretty much like this one.
The pilots were flying an empty leg on a Gulfstream IV (large biz-jet) and both panes of glass in the cockpit were cracked like that and an entire piece of the nosecone was missing. The wings and fuselage of the plane looked like someone beat it with a bat. It was pretty damned awesome if you ask me...For awhile, I gave "tours" of the plane from our ramp-space. (Tours consisted of me driving people around on a golf cart around the GIV when I was bored at work) ;) |
Cool pics. I'd still jump on a plane...no problem.
