Going to Scotland
I already know about Haggis, so don't worry. What I need is information regarding travel times to and from places in the country and places of Interest that might not be noted in a travel guide. Obviously, natives to Scotland would be great!

Loch ness. That is such a fun place to visit. You spend all day looking for the monster.

Land Glasgow, head northwest. Islands and inlets and all sorts.
Tighnabruich (sp?) is heavenly. Once you're around those parts it takes rather a long time to get anywhere else; but if you're not in a rush it's a treat! I know the Eastern side better. Cooler, more rugged, bleaker. Stirling is spectacular, the Trossachs just behind are easy and rewarding climbing. That's about an hour and a half north of both Glasgow and Edinburgh. On your way into the capital, be sure to take a look at the Forth Rail Bridge. Edinburgh's amazing. Walking along Prince's St. there's a huge drop to one side, with the castle perched on top of one rugged set of rocks just beyond. If you're not tired of walking, take a hike up Arthur's Seat for quite the best views of the cityscape and river beyond. Excellent bars all over the city, esp. Grassmarket area, with long opening hours. Have fun! |

I've traveled all around Scotland, and by far the best places to go are Urquehart castle via Loch ness, and the coach trip from Glasgow to oban. Off course William Wallace monument in Stirling is a must for a backpacker..
Enjoy yourself while your there, you'r gonna have great time there!! |
