circulation
so, I am a tall thin guy, and I think that I have circulation problems. Almost every morning when I wake up one or both of my arms will hurt from a lack of circulation. It really hurts. I often lay there flexing my fingers trying to get the circulation flowing back into my arm.
Is this common? Do other people have these problems? I also experience the same problem when I use the ab-crunch machine at the gym. I do up to 1000 crunches and by the time I hit like 700 my hand starts to tingle and I know that the circulation is being cut down. Any ideas? Thanks |

I'm not a doctor, but will try to think of a few suggestions.
Look at your normal sleep position. Have a friend or roommate check on you during the night... you might be moving into a position that cuts off the circulation to your arms a little, like on you side with 1 arm under your body.. both arms under your pillow.. arms crossed... etc. When you wake up in the morning, do some light stretching and moving around. I suggest the sun salutation exercise.. I've done this almost every morning for about 8 years: as for ab exercises, I don't like to do the insane high rep thing for them... I do low reps with high resistance.... like these: gets your abs burning and rebuilding without investing hours and hours on them best advice is to talk to a doctor about it the circulation thing though, could be indicitive of larger problems.

Also keep in mind that tingling could be a neurological symptom- usually due to pressure on a nerve. This could occur in carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, or cervical disk disease- all affecting the upper extremities. If it is persistent, have it checked by your doc. There is a test that can determine if it is neurological or not(EMG/NCS)
