Stomach acid just went up into my throat and it HURTS!!! Plz make it stop!!!
Hey there...I was just sitting here about to play some Quake 3 and some stomach acid or something just came up into my throat and IT HURTS!!!! Anyone know what to do about it??? I've had it happen before but this is the worst...I've tried water and coke (cause of the fizz) and nothing works...someone tell me what'll fix it...:(:(:(...IT STINGS!!!! I hurts so bad that my face is starting to sweat now and I'm getting hot...anyone have any ideas??? THANX
C'YA ?:-D |
my goodness... that sounds positively dangerous.
i get heartburn from stomach acid coming up too high, and for that i chew on antacids (not sure about brands in your area, so i won´t recommend a brand). but in your throat? have you thought about seeing a doctor, or even just calling a health line? |
Well I don't know if it's actually stomach acid or whatever...you know when you throw up and you get that sting in your throat??? Isn't that food with stomach acid on it or something??? I always thought it was some kind of acid or something...all I know is that it is in my throat and it hurts like hell...well actually not any more...it's a bit better now...DAMN it hurt...it happens sometimes when you eat food that don't like each other and create gasses in your stomach...i think...oh well...I just drank 2 cans of Code Red so now I'll not be able to goto sleep...LOL
|
sounds exactly like acid reflux. drinking pop or anything carbonated will actuallly make it worse. there's acid in pop, and that's why. try not to eat/drink anything for awhile other than some antacids.
|
AHHH!!! It happened again...CRAP!!! But this time it's not as bad...but it still stings...I think I may know what's causing it...I ate 4 of those pepperoni stick jerky things...whatever they're called...I can taste a bit of it somehow...I'm not gonna try eatting THEM anymore...LOL...maybe a visit to the titties section will help...
C'YA ?:-D |
Yup, Acid reflux.
Chew some anti-acid tabs and don't eat so much pepperoni late at night. |
Improve your diet, son, or else get used to burping up shit all the time.
|
Acid reflux without a doubt. Take a few antacids and keep an eye on the situation. If it continues or gets worse you might have to see a doctor for an examination.
|
Eat lots of grapes or other anti-oxidents..
|
GERD ... google it... learn how to prevent the flare ups...

I think I got gurd BECAUSE I was using rolaids. Calcium antiacids just temporarily suppress the high acid. Your stomach reacts a little later by just making more acid. Also, the more your eusophagus lining cells get injured by acid - they think they are stomach cells and start MAKING ACID themselves! Bad food, obesity, lying down after eating, cigarettes, alchohol, cafeine, esp. pepperoni can cause it. All things in moderation for goodness sake.
|
They have plenty of stuff for this. Rol-aids, Tums, Maalox, are for the temporary stuff. If it continues the you need Cimetidine, or some other acid reducer. Check at your local pharmacy they'll be helpful.
|
What about Zantac 75??? Would that work??? It says it prevents & relieves heartburn with acid indigestion & sour stomach...is that what I'm looking for???
|
Mael's got it its acid reflux. Go to any doctor and get prevacid the stuff does wonders and you only take it when you got heartburn or acid reflux.
|
You don't even need to go to a doctor anymore. This is sometimes caused by the valve at the top of the stomach being a bit loose. I have had this for years. Untreated, this recurring reflux can lead to espohagal cancer after years. Luckily there is an easy solution. Zantac 75 is an over the counter medicine that works wonders for lighter problems. I think they are good for about 12 hours. Acid reflux is generally a problem when you have spicy food, carbonated drinks, etc. Another possible solution is to buy some over the counter Prilosec (or the generic version) when it becomes non-prescription on Sept. 15. This is a time released anti-acid blocker and works for 24 to 28 hours (at least on me). One way to help acid reflux is to lose weight (if you are too heavy) or just watch what food you eat.
|
I have pretty bad acid reflux, don't know why. I have to take prescription Nexium, one pill a day every day. I can skip a few every so often, but then the acid comes back. Kind of sucks.
|
Rolaids and tums should be banned. I swear using these makes it worse and contributes to GURD incidence. Don't ignore ongoing heartburn. Prilosec (Nexium is same stuff - changed one molecule - but with nice shiny new patent) can help it heal and then switch to one or two ranitiadine 75's (cheaper genaric zantac) twice a day and see if that keeps it down. I might try going back to prilosec when it comes overthecounter. Depends on if it is way expensive compared to 4 rani's a day. Anyone hear of any bad things with prilo's? Those purple pills are magic man... Oh, btw - you probably need to start on the NEADLAA diet to prevent it anyway (Not Eating And Drinking Like an Asshole).
|
Hey man hope you're allright. I'm only 22 and I find that I can't get by on the diet I used to....pop gives me gas, food gives me gas. It's sad that I consider the annoyance of flatulance when deciding whether to buy a pop.
Your body is telling you not to eat 4 pepporni sticks, and to eat healthier/treat it better! |
Ask your doc for Protonix, it really helps. I have IBS and take Robinul also, which helps my tummy..
Go to a gastroenterologist if it keeps acting up. I just got scoped a few weeks ago.. Anastesia is fun ;) |
Okay, one thing I have to add is that acid reflux can also be caused by stress, along with everything else. Change your diet and take the appropriate aids, but if it keeps happening when you're especially stressed, you may have other factors to fix besides your pepperoni intake.
I say this because one of my former bosses fought acid reflux for years. The drugs helped get it somewhat under control, but not completely. Then he resigned his job, and it all went away within a couple of weeks. |
I would try drinking a large glass of cold milk to neutralise the acid but this might curdle in your stomach if you have extreme acid so maybe try drinking milk before it gets too bad. Yoghurts may work as well. Worth a try

Everybody else has the actual question well in hand, freeing me up to make the other observation about this thread:
Quake3? Pepperoni Jerky Treats? I recommend you get a girlfriend, quick! |
i have acid reflux... so i know your pain... i once got it so badly that i couldn't even talk... not because of the pain.. but because it was affecting my larynx... it really sucked...
i suggest going to a doctor.. changing eating habits, etc... |
For the best, easiest, cheapest fix:
Stir a teaspoon of baking soda into 8 oz. of water. Chug. Belch. Belch again. Okay - one more time. Just don't make the mistake of thinking "Hey - if one teaspoon is good; three teaspoons must be better!" Your stomach might explode. The "basic" chemistry is: HNaCO3 + HCL => H2O + NaCL + CO2 |
