How many push ups can you do?
Since we were talking pullups, why not pushups?
I can do 30 nose-to-the-ground pushups in 30 seconds in strict form. Give me a few seconds to rest, and I can do 30 more. I don't train for these, I just do a lot of chest work. When I was a teenager, I could do about 2. Weight training does help. |

I can get to around 100 but then the lactic acid buildup forces me to rest. burn soooo goood . I rarely do pushups because I have a nice workout bench & equipment that I can punish my chest a lot harder with. Pushups don't really help you gain muscle, just endurance.

if I'm doing them alone at home, about 35. At the gym with people around, about 50. Once I was scolded at a martial arts class and ordered to do 100 - I did them, mainly because the pain I would receive for disobeying would have been far greater than the pain of the 100 pushups.

By the way, I don't think being in a wheelchair would automatically hinder you from being able to do pushups, however if this was a thread about squats then I guess I could 'feel for ya' . |

I can do about 3 sets of 30, on a good day..On average i push 3 sets of 20, but i use push up bars which elevate you a good foot, and put my feet on a higher surface to add more resistance on the way up.

Also good to try hands at different heights and as some mentioned elevated feet. Elbows via hand placement, can be either at 90 degrees to the body or less than 90 degrees i.e. 30 degrees. Can be asymmetrical with the hands and have one each way in the same set.

I do 25 everyday with my feet up on the seat of a chair, so my feet are pretty high up (higher than arms length because at full extension my body isn't even level). I never went all out to see how much I could do though.
