When I was in my top shape I did a lot of martial arts (full contact, similar to boxing in a way I guess). Works great as long as you work out to suppliment it :)

Man I would LOVE to box as a cardio program! I don't even know where to look for that, seems like boxing gyms are rare now.

My first 2 years in college (right after highschool when I was in better condition) I boxed for the school. Absolute toughest cardio activity I have ever experienced (waterpolo comes in a close second). If you are looking to shed some bodyfat, enroll in a boxing program at a college or a gym (you dont have to do full contact, you can train zero contact if you want). Be prepared to realize how out of shape you really are :p

The only fitness sport better then boxing is Kickboxing .. Cause you use your legs aswell.
If you do boxing you will most likely get a very high fatique level. |
i agree with boxing being great as a cardio program. I took boxing for a year and most of the training revolved around some type of aerobic activity. Then when i finally got in the ring for 3 rounds i knew why, cause it gets exhausting very quickly. You start to apprieciate how fit boxers must be after you have tried it yourself.

Muy Thai (thai boxing) is excellent for cardio and stamina. It is pretty straightforward to learn too.
Also Brazilian JuJitsu is also a really good workout and is also a pretty good system of real world self defense. If you can get past rolling around on the floor with sweaty men. |
