Anyone Shave Their Head?

I just started shaving my head bald again. I started doing it in High School (Shaved the first day of football camp and then it greww all year until football stared again), but have always worn my hair pretty short. However, I've noticed that I get razor burn really bad on the back of my head and neck. I usually shave after a shower and wash my head with Noxzema (sp?) cleaning lotion. I then lather up with shaving gel (foam doesn't seem to work) and shave with a Gillette Sensor razor (disposables = bad).

So I was wondering if anyone had any tips to avoid the razor burn? Does anyone use anything else?

Thanks:crazy:

I've shaved the old dome a few times. Don't shave against the grain of the hair. That's the big thing. The first time I shaved my head I did it with one of those fixed-blade disposable razors. I looked like somebody had shot me with bird shot in the head. :)

I shaved my head once or twice, and the best way for me to do this was
1) cut your hair REALLY short with an automatic razor.
2) then use normal shaving foam and put all over your head :)
3) I always shaved against the grain of the hair, think it gets cleaner that way, so i don't have do go ove rit more than once, but you gotta be carefull though.
4) Use some neutral cream that soothes your skin, e.g. nivea. (nothing with lots of perfume or alcohol in it)

I usually used the non-disposable gillete razor, wouldn't wanna try it with a disposable one...

I shave my head every 2-4 days. I use a Mach 3 and Nivea shaving gel though I've used other shaving gels that worked just fine. You don't need to wash your head before you shave, that's just going to dry out your skin more.

try skipping the Noxema

try skipping the Noxema. That might be causing the irritation.

Thanks. I went out and bought some Nivea shaving gel and that seemed to work really well. Also, i didn't wash my head with the Noxema before shaving. Either one or the other seemed to do the trick, I didn't get the razor burn.

I gave up on the clean shaven head thing after I discovered how easy it is to clip it with an electric shaver a'la barbershop trimmer. Buzz-cut with no guard. I never get cut or irritated. The smooth head ain't worth the trouble in my opinion..Michael Jordan gets his waxed, if your into that He He .If you do -post it with a webcam so we can watch!!

I shaved my head when I lost a bet back in school - shaved all but 2 big huge eyebrow-like things in the front. looked pretty sweet...

Use cold water instead of warm when you lather up, severely cuts the burn.
