Accelerated Certification Programs?
I'm thinking of taking one of these:
http://www.gv.psu.edu/Continuing_Edu...ase_Developer/ or this one: http://www.gv.psu.edu/Continuing_Edu...eb_Technology/ Would either of these programs be worth it?

most coders I know lost their jobs that got outsourced to India...
with whatever you decide, take some management courses, programmers don't like to manage or be forced into management and usually do. good luck!

When it comes to programming, you have two options:
1) Connections, easiest way to go. 2) A BS or Masters with plenty of experience. While there are exceptions, usualy one of these two are going to be needed. Every job I've gotten has been through connections I've made in one way or another. Taking a few classes on programming may help you find if you're inclined to do the job. It takes a nack, despite what people may tell you. I'd reccomend taking a few classes (Java is a *great* way to start), and then move to working with some open source projects to gain experience. |
