I think you'll find that most of the bars contain pretty much the same shit, so buy the cheapest one that you can stomach. I personally prefer protein shakes post-workout, but I don't know if there's any data that says one form of protein is better than the other...

I'm with winsecure on this one. Myoplex works great. It can even be used for a meal replacement.
You can also try Isopure Perfect - Zero Carb. It's a powder for shakes. One serving contains 50 grams of protein. It's almost like Myoplex, except it has no carbs. So it works great for protein and especially when you are trying to minimize the amount of carbs you intake. and it tastes discent. I usually buy a bucket of it (lasts about 3 weeks) for $40.00 at Smoothie King here. |

After the workout I usually go with a shake like the other guys said. Never heard of the products they use; I just mix whey protein and chocolate soy milk, maybe add a shot of chocolate syrup for fun. It's probably not a full meal replacement, but I usually eat a little more within a couple of hours.

Also... if you're just wanting to protein, check out the little pouches of tuna. I've never been much of a tuna person myself, but some of the stuff on the market is actually pretty decent (no fishy taste to it). It comes in little pouches that you can tear open... runs about a buck a pouch. At 90 calories and 21 grams of protein, its a great source of protein for either after workouts or snack throughout the day.

if you're going post workout, you want to make sure ou are getting easily broken down carbs t oreplenish glycogen stores...liquid and sugary, with about 70/30 split of carbs to protein with low fat works best
